Playing ALL THE board games and regularly forgetting things while remaining a life-long resident of this Great Plains "Red State." Someday we'll be a bastion for socialist farmers again. Yeah, that could happen.

Making a sauce to coat the sweet potatoes, adding the last ingredient before the brown sugar:
Maple syrup.

And out comes a clump of green mold. MOLD! I've never seen mold in maple syrup. After throwing out the mix I realize I'm now short on butter. FFS.

My FIL is 80 and likes games, but only the limited games he knows and approves of. We tried Bohnanza some years ago and he balked when I told him he could do certain things some times and not others. As if that weren't the case in 99% of games.
So, we don't play Bohnanza with them, which is a pity.

Q: What games do you hope to play with your Turkey Day peeps?
My Thanksgiving mission is getting family to play some #boardgames. I have an aunt who I've previously taught Sagrada, Super Mega Lucky Box, Arboretum, and Ticket to Ride (which she ended playing regularly with friends).

This weekend I'll see I can tempt her to play Elysium or Rise of Augustus.

I'd seen the cover to this film many times and passively wrote it off as a cheap "chick flick." Now, this review has made me a fan before I've even watched it, which will hopefully be soon.

The perfect Thanksgiving NYC indie film almost didn't get made
At the turn of the century, Katie Holmes starred in "Piece of April," James Hedges' now-cult classic.

Kristi Noem is guilty of crimes against humanity and needs to face justice.

📌 She made the final call to defy a court order to halt deportation flights, sending people into the hellscape of CECOT, a place the UN has compared to a torture chamber.

Prosecute her and everyone involved.

You're kidnapped. The characters from the last show you watched are coming to rescue you.

I'd say my odds are 60/40.

One perpetual criticism I see of Donald Trump since his first presidency is his mental decline, evidenced when he speaks.

I disagree. He sounds the way he always has, bloviating and inane.

Oh, gawd, are we going to have to protect her at all costs? The writers really decided to mix things up this season.
As a retiring but still sitting member of the House, MTG has the opportunity to read into the public record documents that otherwise could not be released... and would be protected by the constitution's speech or debate clause from prosecution.

Thank goodness we can soon reclaim the true meaning of MTG:

Magic the Gathering

Unless she's planning something to keep her in the spotlight. She wouldn't do that, now, would as she?

Trump still plays the hero, but in cooperation with a man decried by MAGA voters and mouthpieces as a dangerous Muslim communist (1 of 3 ain't bad). They're incredibly respectful, even chummy, toward each other and their shared interests as political leaders. SO WEIRD

We need overwhelming pushback.
Remarkable: Rep Chrissy Houlahan, one of the Dems that Trump called for executing, tells me her office literally filled out a Capitol Police threat report that listed "the president" as the person making the threat.

It's at 9:20 on our pod. Much more like that here:

For anyone who thinks this doesn't concern them, bless your benighted heart.
Just saw this today. This is a transparent attempt to KILL DUE PROCESS by lying about the job of immigration judge and stacking the deck through hiring only bloodthirsty lawyers who want to deport people.

This comes after they pushed out over 100 judges deemed too likely to grant relief.
DOJ is now recruiting for immigration judges by calling them “deportation judges.”

That’s seems really bad.

So much for Signal's signature safety.
“The FBI gained access to conversations in a ‘courtwatch’ Signal group that helps coordinate volunteer activists who monitor public proceedings at three New York federal immigration courts. The US government has repeatedly been accused of violating immigrants’ due process rights at those courts.”

It took almost 5 years to get this back to the table. I hope the next session will be much sooner, and with another player.

I realized I might possibly sell this to my rummy playing relatives, as a sets and runs game!

...with a few extra bells and whistles.

So, has there simply been sufficient time to have redacted all the things they DON'T want seen, while retaining those they DO?

It's something I've wondered for awhile now, and doesn't feel beyond the realm of possibility, at all.

Future armchair psychologists will enjoy contemplating whether Trump's history of ostentatious sexism was all a cover for being gay. It'll be all "Trump's tariff efforts surely represented his lack of amorous feelings towards the opposite sex, a poor substitution for his latent homosexual activity."
