I was a teen when my grandad died so I might have this wrong but I think he left his body to medical science and medical science said “no, thanks.” I’m not sure why - mid 70s, heart attack at home after discharge from surgery.
I should ask my mum.

15 October 1942 | A Polish prisoner Edward Kopiec was released from Auschwitz (no. 570, prisoner of the 1st transport of Poles on 14 June 1940). One of some 2,000 political prisoners released from the camp.

It is laughable to think that you can neuter the far right with minor tweaks like this.

How many Conservative or Reform supporters even know that immigrants have to pass a language test? They object to immigration on emotional grounds, not because they have dry objections to eligibility criteria.

To ensure graduates contribute effectively to the economy, the maximum post-study stay will be reduced to 18 months from the current 2 years for most from 1 January 2027. It comes after data clearly showed that many holders had not transitioned into graduate-level employment as intended.
Finance requirements for student visas will also be increased for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, meaning foreign students will have to demonstrate they have sufficient funds to support themselves.

I’m just not consistent now I’m not teaching. I did wear a mask for a hospital visit recently - because I spotted staff wearing. I still carry a mask. Last year I put one on in taxi as driver was wearing one. I wanted to be respectful.

Anyway, I agree. We probably should. But I’m inconsistent.

I wore masks consistently 2020-2021. I then eased off but was still very consistent in wearing good quality mask in classroom when teaching. I had kids (teen) query it - they thought Covid had gone. Various colleagues plus lots of students got either Covid or another nasty illness Dec 2022. Not me!

This reminded me. I buy Hello Fresh and it often encourages me to add a “protein” to a meal that already has protein. It means meat (or fish) when the meal has dairy protein already (usually cheese). Do Americans think cheese is not a protein? What do they think vegetarians do??

i feel like this story is particularly important right now, because protein-maxxing is *so* in vogue. before working on this, i believed i was woefully protein deficient

it turns out that's just a myth that has been floating around for decades—the average american gets more than enough protein!!

Just had to check. To become a teacher in England and Wales, you only need English to be at GCSE grade C (4) level. (Plus GCSE Maths.) So a lower standard of English than migrants. Ridiculous.

Entry requirements for a postgraduate teacher training course usually include a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
You also need the following GCSEs at grade 4
(C) or above, or equivalent qualifications:
• English
• maths
• science (if you want to teach primary)

I haven’t had endo but I’m aware of it and the “weeds in your garden, with thorns” was an interesting analogy. The terrible pain women I know have endured. And the disbelief.

I had ordinary period pains which was bad enough (I’d go so pale and wobbly) that I get a small % of what it’s like.
