I'm going to regret saying this but if you are using AI to write anything important, you are intellectually deficient or morally corrupt or inexcusably lazy.
Over on IG I've been posting an AAPI book a day to celebrate AAPI heritage month. They are all kid lit and YA books except for 1 adult book I snuck in there, but it is by a YA author so it still counts. The beautiful thing is I have more books than days to celebrate. I couldn't do this 20 years ago.

THIS WEEK: House Republicans are deciding how many families and senior citizens they’ll kick off Medicaid, SNAP, early education, and countless other programs that working families rely on — all to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

Call your representative NOW if you live in a GOP district.

Our statement regarding the firing of Dr. Carla Hayden (continued)
Graphic with neutral-colored background containing an official statement from We Need Diverse Books regarding the recent firing of Dr. Carla Hayden. The fourth part of the statement says, “Dr. Hayden once said that libraries are a “cornerstone of democracy—where information is free and equally available to everyone.” But right now across the U.S., libraries are under threat. We urge our fellow Americans to call your representatives and tell them to support continued federal funding for libraries nationwide. At We Need Diverse Books, we will do our part to carry on Dr. Hayden's legacy by protecting our libraries and the dedicated librarians who staff them.” Graphic with neutral-colored background containing a pull-quote from former Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, that says: “Libraries are a cornerstone of democracy —where information is free and equally available to everyone.”

We Need Diverse Books is proud to stand with Dr. Carla Hayden, who started her career as a children’s librarian in Chicago and who became the first woman and first Black appointee to serve as the Librarian of Congress.

Find our statement below ⬇️

At the bottom of the photo is bold white text that says, “WNDB stands with Dr. Carla Hayden and condemns her firing.” Graphic with neutral-colored background containing an official statement from We Need Diverse Books regarding the recent firing of Dr. Carla Hayden. The first part of the statement says, “We Need Diverse Books is proud to stand with Dr. Carla Hayden, who started her career as a children’s librarian in Chicago and who became the first woman and first Black appointee to serve as the Librarian of Congress. Throughout her exemplary career, she has been a faithful public servant, a visionary leader, a champion of literacy—and the People’s Librarian, who strived to make our nation’s library more accessible and available to all Americans.”
Also, it was only because of this drama that I realized he was a supporter of JKR. Which was another crucial reason for my deep disappointment. I will always support the transgender community.

The whole King drama really encapsulates why we should never idolize people. Because they will always disappoint you. After all, they are human. I wish he had listened to marginalized voices and just apologized instead of doubling down. Now an author I loved since I was a child, is no longer a fave.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Let’s be clear. When the President defies the Supreme Court, it is the role of Congress to remove him from office. Full stop.

I cannot convey enough how grateful I am to the millions of you all supporting us with your time, resources, and energy.

Your support has allowed us to rally people together at record scale to organize their communities.

All with an average donation of $21.

THANK YOU & Pa’lante 🙏🏽♥️
News: AOC had her strongest ever quarter, raising over $9.5m from 266k individual donors for an average of just $21.

AOC doesn’t take a dollar from lobbyists or corporate PACS. Our top donor professions are teachers and nurses. 64% were first time contributors.

I hope everyone remains safe and also that people know that a corporate spaceflight of only women astronauts for a company owned by a deeply destructive billionaire who is enabling fascism is just public relations for fascism and has absolutely nothing to do with feminism

NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the President’s attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services.

The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)
We're suing Trump to save library funding. Show up for our libraries, American Library Association.

I have been saying this when I call my reps to yell at them. Now I can say "As Justice Sotomayor says..."

Call your reps and demand they call for the release of Mahmoud Khalil and all of the other detained students as well as the folks sent to the concentration camp in El Salvador.

Sotomayor: "The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal"
#BREAKING: 5-4 Court, with Barrett joining the three Dem. appointees in dissent *vacates* Chief Judge Boasberg’s temporary restraining orders in the Alien Enemy Act cases. Judicial review must be available, Court holds, but has to come through habeas petitions:

I've been screaming inside my head so much I can't think anymore. I hate what's happening to us so much. Even ice cream and donuts can't make me feel any better. The only thing that makes me feel a modicum of happiness is this:

To kick off the inaugural #WeNeedDiverseBooksDay, WNDB is also committing to donating 10,000 diverse titles across the country in 2025. We believe that diverse books ought to be read and celebrated, especially now as book bans disproportionately target them.

Thank you for all your support!

They're consolidating & hoarding generational wealth & power. That's what these tariffs & tax breaks are all about. All the money & power will remain in their families for generations while the rest of us can't break out of the neverending cycle of debt & poverty. And we simply let them do it to us.
