Yes. I once saw a post from someone wishing he'd had the chance to know his father's (mostly deceased) family better. As a #genealogy enthusiast, I immediately offered to research his #familytree.

Little did I know where it would lead.

Here's me meeting his Mom, #BelindaCarlisle a few weeks ago.
Me meeting the singer, Belinda Carlisle backstage at one of her concerts in August this year.

For years, I have been fixated on this UK cold murder case. I believe it is solvable with genetic genealogy if they can get an SNP DNA profile. But a lot of legislative (and other) barriers stand in the way. I talk about it on TikTok here: vm.tiktok.com/ZNdWr6B7U/

Do you not also have an Irish passport? I became a naturalised German after Brexit. Which was a pain, but has made life a lot easier.

They're great reads. If you ever get the chance, I'd also recommend visiting RLS's home city of Edinburgh - and the setting for many of his stories. One of my favourite cities in the world.

I love Robert Louis Stevenson, but Treasure Island isn't actually my favourite book by him.

I went through a phase of reading Victorian gothic horror - and his novelas, 'Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' and 'The Body Snatcher' really stuck with me.

Thanks, Paul - and thank you for retweeting my own blog post on visiting the Western Front.

I have read a few of these. Really good - but if I may make a suggestion, perhaps you could mention how you are related (or connected) to these people. It makes the story even more personal in my opinion.

I think that must happen a lot when people submit videos to you, though. Someone did it to mine - but I deleted the comment as soon as I saw it. And I know you found the location without it, because you included your reasoning/methodology when you made your response video a few months later.

So do blood donors. I had really bad anaemia last year (haemoglobin level of 5.3). I felt awful, but didn't realise how sick I was until I went to hospital - and they wouldn't let me go home.
Ended up having a blood transfusion, which possibly saved my life.

So this happened at the weekend. I haven't stopped smiling since.
And yes, she is absolutely wonderful. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I met Belinda Carlisle. ❤️❤️❤️

I saw a while ago that in China, facial recognition software alone is used for fast check-in at some airports instead of the traditional passport and ticket approach.

I think this is the future - give it a few years and it'll be the norm everywhere. Technology is advancing at a scary rate.

This may be more your topic than mine, but his supporters (incl. Farage) often praise him for rising to the rank of Brigadier during the SWW. They neglect to mention that he managed this feat without seeing any action at all.
I am not sure how this was possible - unless he "shook the right hands".

Every once in a while, I come across people who claim he would have made a great Prime Minister. These people clearly know nothing about him.

Many in the Tory Shadow Cabinet threatened to resign if he wasn't sacked. He'd therefore have made a terrible PM as nobody wanted to work with him.

I couldn't be bothered to get the toaster out and just threw the bread in the pan. It was a revelation. 😇🤣

Actually, I've never been keen on brown sauce. But the bacon and egg (with fried bread on this occasion) was soooo good. 😋🥓🍳🍞

Happy National Bacon Lovers Day (yes, really). Coincidentally, I had a bacon and egg fry up this morning. Yes, I know it's unhealthy, but I enjoyed it. 😋

Urrggh. The ironic thing is that I've had various nationalities thrown at me over the years - Vietnamese, Japanese, Chilean, even Swedish on one occasion. First time I've been accused of being Russian...let alone a bot, though.

Thanks. Maybe I should have known better than to engage on a political topic, as they rarely end well.

This particular cockwomble turned out to be a right nutter. Eventually he accused me of being a Russian bot - which was news to me. Apart from anything else, I've never been to Russia in my life.

Yuck! Just had a truly unpleasant experience on Bluesky, involving a user, who didn't like his assertions questioned, proceeded to hurl false personal accusations/ foul abuse at me, and tried to encourage a pile-on.

Had hoped to avoid that on here.
