just had my first gender clinic appointment after almost 5 years on the list. bit surreal. def backed up the general sense that TransPlus is the best clinic option in the UK alongside Manchester’s Indigo - gonna be writing up an account soon

she talks about struggling with drugs and mental health and stuff as a teenager and she’s clearly more comfortable reading brianna as a kind of tragic replica of her own struggles. brianna’s supposed phone addiction must be seen as a drug-adjacent thing rather than her needing community

i’ve not read her memoir but i’ve read plenty of its supplementary materials and she is simultaneously avoiding being tarred as an abuser/predator (for being complicit in illegal childhood transness) & projecting her own adolescent struggles onto her daughter

regrettably this is so unsurprising - ghey has entirely capitulated to the cultural demand that she rewrite brianna as a victim of childhood transness rather than of transphobic murder. she’s betraying her daughter to save her own skin
Esther continually deadnamed Brianna during the call and honestly if you didn't already know what happened, you would have assumed suicide. There was no focus on external dangers or how we could combat them. The focus was purely about the dangers of how 'obsessed with social media' she was.

you don’t need to be connected to the case for saying that someone committed a crime to cause legal problems. but in any case i’m a journalist and avoid any possibilities for libel

would note that i've seen a couple of people gesturing to this as an AFAB problem (anti-trans violence against us not getting picked up by media; deadnaming and misgendering in death, etc), but in my experience all trans people are subject to this

Yeah it's really fucked - the father has made erratic statements as if he thought it would be better off if he AND his kids were dead in a way that seems to most specifically be about Onyx, given that they were the one who wasn't given any chance of getting away

I'm just trying to not impact court proceedings or enter any legal grey areas by accusing someone of a crime they've not been convicted of. All the relevant reporting says that he's confessed in both spoken and written form.
