We met yesterday and decided not to talk too much about writing (though it was tempting!) because we want to surprise each other! Lots of fun energy there!
Know a writer of exceptional promise with a manuscript in progress, who has faced significant barriers to fulfilling that promise? Yosef Wosk VMI Fellowship applications are open until November 10, 2025!

I can’t believe the NBA has stronger guidelines concerning integrity than the US Govt. They hold their players to a stricter standard than the govt considers for the president.
We loved hearing you read all of With My Back to the World from start to finish! The lines, like Agnes Martin's, are clear and packed with intensity-it was wonderful to see the images while relaxing into your sustained read. @bronwentate.bsky.social and I were happy to host you!
Thanks to University of British Columbia and Green College, and The Whole Cloth Reading Series for welcoming me so warmly. Pictured here: Bronwen Tate, Elee Kraljii Gardiner, Alix Ohlin, Neil Aitken.
Thrilled to have Victoria Chang reading her entire book for our reading series, the Whole Cloth! She'll share visuals of Agnes Martin's paintings as she reads. Join us in person or via livestream. If you come we have cookies and copies for the community! wholecloth.substack.com/p/today-vict...

Come ON, @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social. Are you going to cover workers' right at all in the #AirCanadaStrike, esp rights of underpaid women workers? Or are you just going to bang on about stranded passengers day after day after day? Why not ask callers what they think of unfair labour practices?

We had actual an actual assassination of a Democratic legislator in Minnesota two months ago & it’s completely disappeared from the National Conversation™️. This happens <all> the time over & over again 👇
behold the poetry of this testimony!
This is one of the most beautiful things I have witnessed, the craft here is impeccable.

We are reminding residents to protect themselves from mosquito bites. Routine mosquito trapping and testing for West Nile Virus have confirmed a positive mosquito pool in Ottawa.

🚨 If you were on the BC Ferries 10:15am sailing August 9 Duke Point to Tsawwassen please check your vehicles, trailers or boats for Luigi, a black and white tuxedo #cat wearing a blue harness.

Luigi slipped out of a small window opening of his owner's vehicle and disappeared on the lower car deck.

Ohio managed to get thousands of people to hold hands and link arms in a human chain that stretched 8 miles to stand against ICE.

8 miles of humans linked together.
Very happy to point people towards interesting poetry!

A while ago, we started a #FixItFriday tradition. We keep a running list - large & small, digital & analog, anything broken or annoying - and work on it together.

What does a poet laureate actually *do*, you ask? They offer informal summer listening to the amphibian chorus, of course.

Go listen to frogs with @eleekg.bsky.social!
FRIDAY NIGHT FROGS: Come listen to REAL frogs! No agenda, no plan, no time constraint. We will gently gather around 9:30pm at the water feature at Mundell Park at UBC Wesbrook Village and enjoy the chorus. Stay 5 mins or 500, it’s up to you! More info at versevancouver.ca!
