She may run on floppy disks; but this 30 year old girl is bailing me out of a jam

Katy has been removed from retirement and is back in action for MFF prep. Always a machine that dies in crunch time. The big expensive machine busted a needle and I think the arm crank is out of alignment. The camera for the machine is in the way for me to fix it myself easily. To the spa she goes.

Reminds me a lot about Germany during world war 2. This is not the country my family immigrated to after being rescued from a prison camp. How many folks are being retraumatized just for still being alive during this bullshit? It is unconscionable how many US legal are arrested and held, stop this!

A bit of a before and after for a baking company. She didn’t have the original file anymore that she used and wanted new aprons for her gingerbread decorating events. I gave her logo a huge glow up! 15 down… something north of 50 to go. She gave me a box full of new aprons. I’m afraid to look

Booooooooo. Thumb joints are getting unstable again between all the sewing and working out 4 times a week. The weights I’ve worked up to; the muscles are strong enough; but the old car accident injury is not.

My pumpkin this year!! Mom hosted carving night. Since kids don’t come to my house for Halloween she gets to keep it at her house.

Giving a certain derpy blue tiger Oni a try in my style. I am digging the shape & its comfy on the face. Will have to see how it looks once fully dry & painted. Maybe with some red/orange makeup around my own eyes. (Since the fun contacts crap out at just over 1/2 my perscription, boo :p )

Ding everyone!!!! Quilt is done!!!! Queen size quilt for a royal quilt!
October 17, 2025 at 3:25 PM
So a lot of quilting is being a mechanic and I have no idea what exact part is squealing as I opened her up and oiled everything maintenance troubleshooting says to do. FYI this sound is migraine inducing. It lasts about a minute and then goes back to normal sewing for a while.

Slow and steady we go. Don’t worry just a huge number of hours of quilting left. Could be another midnight night… worth it! Look how pretty this pantograph is!

My god the top is finally complete!!!! Next to get it mounted on the long arm and quilt this beast! One Block Wonder quilts eat your heart out! I’m really proud of this journey

She lives!!! The Frankenstein of quilting parts that are barely compatible with each other are sewing in unison and not breaking thread. Thank god they still make encoders for this machine or I would have been screwed!

I think I determined which hexagons are going where. Might swap a few for a better gradient. Going to sit on this a few days. I have an embroidered bag to finish now that this quilt can be set to the side
September 26, 2025 at 5:51 AM
This quilt will be over 6 feet wide!!! Finally some serious progress and sewed the first rows of hexagons together. Now to map out the rest of the quilt the length of the polar bear panel so I can keep sewing across this awesome quilt!
September 25, 2025 at 2:57 AM
I think I need a bigger board… made a ton of hexagons today and I swear the pile to be assembled remains almost endless. I think I need to assemble the top layer first and see where that lands me as it will dictate how the main panel is going to fit among the hexagons.

The last big block and a bunch more smaller ones. Starting to fill out now

One block wonder quilting with a twist. 3 special big blocks down. 1 to go. Then the oodles of little blocks to scatter in. This is probably going to be up queen sized. @furfest.org I hope you got room in that art show!

Get excited for my take on the one block wonder! It’s about time I set up my design wall and get organized. Gonna be neat to kaleidoscope this sucker!
September 18, 2025 at 5:49 AM
I’m curious. Which is better 2 borders or 3 borders?
September 15, 2025 at 6:32 AM
I can’t decide if I want more leaves… a major math error resulted in a neat light through the forest look on the sashing. It’s not perfect. I ran out of fabric for perfect. Math is hard folks! And a reminder you need more fabric as the border gets bigger… not the same measurements..

Look who is almost done?!?! I have some sashing to finish and I can set it aside for my long arm.
September 14, 2025 at 4:02 AM
Hey who likes raccoons! It might not be a trench coat but how about 3 raccoons in a tree? Last small wall hang till I make a monster sized quilt
September 13, 2025 at 5:24 AM
Can’t AI your way through a quilt. Still take a human and math to make it work
September 9, 2025 at 11:46 AM
Almost done!!! Also hello again midnight followers. I swear I will have a better bedtime hour someday. Gotta tack down the appliqué of wolves and satin stitch the edge to secure it. Then it’s time for the long arm! I have 3 quilts lined up to finish while the sewing machine gets a tune up
