Having sent two kids off to college, one of whom has graduated, and reading through all the posts from the new parents in the parents group, I have one piece of wisdom to share: Your kids are adults.
Several times tonight, I saw y'all posting about the northern lights and went outside and saw nothing. But about 20 minutes ago, they finally popped here

Important context given in the replies, which is that this is the Farmer's Almanac (a stupid publication which nobody reads -ed) and not the Old Farmers Almanac.

I do have my doubts about the effectiveness of this street sweeping.

To my Catholic Twin Cities friends (or anyone else who's interested!), join us for a Rosary in public witness for immigrants this Sunday at 4:15 on the steps of the cathedral.
This Sunday at 4:15 pm we are joining with other Twin Cities parishes to host a prayer vigil on the steps of the Cathedral of St. Paul as a public witness for immigrants. We will say the Rosary in English and Spanish with each decade beginning with a reflection on a vulnerable migrant population.

In the spirit of ecumenical understanding, I took the Anglican quiz thingy. I feel like I'm allowed; I've at various times spent about five years of my life associated with it in one way or another, although I was never received into it.

In any case, these results seem about right.

Precisely 365 days to the minute later, and fourteen so far, despite the kind of dreary weather. And the teens are not having to carry the load by themselves.
Precisely 365 days to the minute later, and just four people so far, all teens or adults. Of course the weather sucks this year.
It's dead out there. Seven kids so far. Thank God for the teens everyone hates or we'd have only had one.

I believe this person is holding a tablet in place with a paint can... which is perhaps not the choice that I would have made.

A helicopter at a neighborhood No Kings protest feels new, though perhaps it's because there's no big protest at the capitol.

(Not new for Minnesota protests in general, but new compared to the last two No Kings).

St. Albert has money for school supplies available for teachers and will be randomly choosing nine teachers this Friday. I say "randomly," though my understanding is that at this point we still don't have enough requests to use up our budget.
Are you a teacher who could use help paying for school supplies? We have money left over from our school supplies drive and are giving away nine $50 Target gift cards for teachers to use in their classrooms. Will choose names by lot this Friday. Fill out our contact form to register.

My parish doesn't post that much, and then mostly about public events. But I asked nicely, and they agreed to write about faith formation. Because I know there are people on here who still feel connected to the church even as they are frustrated by it. And I think St. Albert could be a good fit.
Are you a Catholic parent who wants your children to receive the sacraments but has questions about what they might experience in the classroom? Looking for a program in a welcoming parish that affirms the worth and dignity of all people? We invite you to check out St. Albert the Great. (1/3)

It's a god-damned Minnesota peach! Purchased from the farm by Naomi.

Yes, I know why that's concerning. But also:

In what for us qualifies as being unusually current on pop culture, we watched KPop Demon Hunters
last night. I was of course expecting to love Derpy, and I was delighted by both him and Sussie. Given Derpy's smash success, I was surprised how small a role they played.

This should be a great concert. Mark is one of our cantors and is a phenomenal vocalist. Kiegan is an excellent cellist. I've not heard Ben play, though I would expect that he is similarly talented, and he will get to play on our superb Steinway.
This Sunday at 1:30 pm, we are hosting a summer blockbuster concert, featuring music from classic and modern films performed by:
Our cantor, Mark Billy, vocals and clarinet
Kiegan Ryan, cello
Ben Wagner, piano
Free will cash donation ($20-$40 suggested) at the door

If you come to the cafe early, I might even sell you a hot dog.

Bingo is from 6:00-8:45 pm. The Bingo Cafe opens at 5:30, selling hot dogs, veggie dogs, sloppy joes, chips, pop, and cookies.

I decided to go to the Y rather than go biking because it was drizzling when I was about to start my ride, and the map looked like it was going to get worse

So realistically I could have brought an umbrella.

Hmm. I didn't cock up the mac and cheese as much as I feared. I guess sometimes it works to put in all the right ingredients even drastically in the wrong order.
