I do also think it’s really useful for defamiliarizing gender — everyone thinks they know what a man is, but every writer has to establish for themselves what it means to be an alpha, and doing that points very directly to the way gender is constructed.

I’ve been thinking about how some people are very mad about f/m omegaverse (which I get as a queer person) but I also think the attraction of it is reading a female character who is incredibly unrepentantly horny (heat/rut) and can’t help it! It’s just biology! There’s no moral judgement attached!
