Part adjunct, part self-employed, entirely neurodivergent. She/her in STEM, i.e., had pronouns before people got offended by them. Can't believe it's controversial to not want SARS. Also plays with string 🧶

Hey new followers, I recognize a few of you from Bird Hell Site (detector webapp came online or got noticed?) so I assume y'all know this, but so the rest of you know what's in the tin:

* quite autistic
* numbers are fun
* yarn yarn yarn
* cute lizard is cute
* fuck Nazi bullshit

It used to be that I longed
for public health groups
to urge people to take precautions
so things wouldn’t get worse,
but today when I saw
CA’s Department of Public Health
encouraging travelers
to wear “a high-quality mask”
I thought to myself:
things must be worse than we think.

FYI, @firefox.com is joining AI Slop Club.

Jumped back to Firefox a while ago as part of cutting back on Google, but for this I can pivot again... going to try Librewolf with Floccus for bookmark syncing (and already using Proton for passwords). Anyone with me?
Mozilla has a new CEO and he just announced that Firefox will evolve into a modern AI browser. This is a good example of how management doesn’t understand its own user base and why they go out of their way to install Firefox on Windows, Android, iOS and other devices blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/l...

I have heard that in Canada
doctors are “alarmed”
about this mutant flu,
and I have heard that in the UK
doctors are saying this super flu
is “beyond catastrophic,”
and here in the US
public health departments
(and even the CDC)
are quietly saying
you might want to wear a mask.

1) Don't proselytize non-consensually such as places, like work, where people have no choice but to be around you

2) It's not the religion that offends me, there are reasons that would be especially weird, it's the framing of it as mainly relevant "if you die tonight"
Welp, guess that one coworker had an end of year fire insurance sales goal she's short on.

The way I figure it, whatever percentage of your problems are walk it off problems, you're that percent lucky.

I am *really* lucky right now. Oww oww oww.

Me: *yell at TV that a character needs to lawyer up*
Husband: "How would she know she needs a lawyer?"
Me: "She's in a room with cops and their lips are moving."

I'm no fan of Trump nor interested in setting green stuff on fire, but the Schedule 1 list is factually a "one of these things is not like the other" game, so...OK sure, I don't hate this.
🍃 SCOOP 🍃

President Trump is preparing to order his administration to dramatically loosen restrictions on MARIJUANA.

The order would reclassify cannabis from Schedule I — the same level as heroin — to Schedule III — the same level as Tylenol and codeine and some steroids.
Trump seeks to cut restrictions on marijuana through planned order
The president is expected to attempt to classify marijuana similar to some common prescription painkillers and other drugs.

I can't be the only one who actually specifically prefers a corded generic-dremel or other drillish thing (being able to unplug it to guarantee stuff won't go wrong when I need to mess with the spinny cutty bits is a *feature* dammit).

OK listen, this *might* be a poorly-labeled opportunity to get some Right to Repair legislation pushed through.

Given that the rest of this clusterfuck is happening either way, "you own your stuff, not the huge-ass corporation you bought it from" on the books would be an improvement.
Trump on John Deere: "We're gonna say, 'you're gonna reduce the prices.' They're gonna have to reduce their prices. Because farming equipment has gotten too expensive ... in many cases, you need about a 185 IQ to turn on a lawnmower."

What's more likely, that the C in E=MC² stands for "the speed of light", a term which doesn't even contain the letter c, or that it stands for "cheese", a word that is widely known for starting with c?

There's a skills gap, but dammit, anyone can offer to stir something.
The corollary is for men to show up at family events and impress upon all your nephews (and brothers) that they MUST step up and help out, not just sit in the other room and watch football. Show them all this great food and family requires work, and they need to help out as part of the family.

But they don't say that. They say "be uncomfortable" like they've never heard of pointless, destructive discomfort before.

Autistic people know a lot about discomfort but we're less familiar with this supported, opt-in version the theatre kids like to pontificate about.
