2x witness of puke on a NBA court.
I feel like it would be malpractice if 29 teams weren’t discussing Corey Seager with the Rangers. He’s very much like Devers in that, while not a superstar, he’s still the caliber of hitter that can be the best bat in a WS winning offense. And he’s proven that twice.

The Giants between Jan 15, 2025-Jan 15, 2026:

•Signed Josuar Gonzalez, #1 ranked teenage IFA prospect
•Landed the #4 pick for 2026
•Expected to sign Luis Hernandez, #1 ranked IFA prospect

Very strong infusion of farm talent within a year.

(Of course, those IFA guys won’t be up for 6+ years)

Kopech is at least an intriguing idea. No clue what his contract will be considering injuries and the fact that he walked 33 guys in 22.2 total IP this year. But that is a special FB/CT combo that would play if he can figure it out

And from me, the Giants’ next closer could come from anywhere, including free-agent market, minor-league FA market or internally: some options plus comments from Posey and Minasian 🔗 via @sfchronicle
Giants’ next closer? Tyler Rogers, Michael Kopech among possible free agent targets
The majority of the San Francisco Giants’ high-leverage relievers in recent years came from within, but this offseason could mean a rare dip into the free-agent market for a closer.

Roch Cholowsky will almost certainly be going 1.1 to the White Sox.

There are a lot of good names that will be at the top of the class. A couple highly thought of HS prospects as well. As for college bats, though, keep an eye on Drew Burress. Fits Posey's MO we've seen so far.

FWIW, Tennessee has two players on MLB Pipeline's t100 2026 draft prospects:

Tegan Kuhns, RHP, ranked 43rd
Henry Ford, OF, ranked 59th

The Giants will pick 4th overall in the 2026 draft. A huge leap from 15th. They've needed a homegrown star, and now they have a very good chance at drafting one.

Could it also change how they view QO-tagged FAs? Their willingness to deal top prospects?

It looks like the Giants have leapfrogged into the top 6!

Feels balanced but also unusually rosy at a couple positions. Chapman's only had one 4.0+ fWAR season since 2020. Schmitt was a 1.2 fWAR/162 pace last year entering age 27. ZiPS must like Rodriguez a whole lot. I think I'd take the under on Gilbert/Matos/Wiemer
Here's an early look at the ZiPS x @fangraphs.com depth chart for the next ZiPS team, the San Francisco Giants.

It's going to be incredibly funny when Edwin Díaz sucks next year but Tanner Scott is nails

The draft lottery takes place today at 2:30 PT. The Giants are currently in line to pick 15th, but because of anti-tanking rules they have the 12th most balls in the machine.

It's a longshot for the #1 pick, but moving into the top-6 still would be very good.

Rosenthal reported earlier today that Bader is seeking a three year contract. I think he makes a lot of sense to plug the hole in RF but idk about that length.

I had heard after the trade deadline that if they didn’t collapse the Giants had planned on moving Luciano as a toss-in in a larger trade. Speculating, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they moved on from Matos in that sort of fashion this week.
December 7, 2025 at 11:01 PM
"When the Giants traded for Devers ... some high-ranking team employees were told there essentially was no wiggle room to keep adding money at the July deadline."

Remember, Baggs has said the Giants are already pretty close to their '25 financials.

🙄🙄🙄
I’m assuming he is being honest since he has a bunch of locker room interviews from the kings post game

Oh Zachary that has not been the problem 😂

So what’s happening with Kodai Senga? He staying put or?
December 7, 2025 at 5:01 AM
Thanks Doug
Can we get Raynaud in the starting lineup for Eubanks next game?

Feels like a very good trade for the Mariners. On the Washington side of things, this makes me want to offer Carson Whisenhunt for Gore ASAP
@JeffPassan tweeted
Trade news: The Seattle Mariners are acquiring left-handed reliever Jose Ferrer from the Washington Nationals for catching prospect Harry Ford and right-handed pitching prospect Isaac Lyon, sources tell ESPN. First on the scene was @andrewcgolden.

Ultimately it's on the player to perform, but at the same time the Giants never gave Luciano a fair chance. He wound up taking 126 PA as a Giant.

For reference:
Joey Bart, 503 PA
Luis Matos, 593 PA (and counting)
Kyle Harrison, 779 BF

He wasn't great at AAA, but neither were any of those three
December 6, 2025 at 6:49 AM
The Rule 5 draft takes place Wednesday. Since they opened up a 40-man spot by waiving Luciano, it would appear there's someone(s) available that they like. They pick 15th, so they'd be relying on someone sliding back or a trade. But lots of interesting names this year.
December 6, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Lol he might be their fourth best reliever if he was allowed to pitch
🤖 Alex Pavlovic

The Giants are adding another familiar face to staff: Longtime big league reliever Jesse Chavez will be their bullpen coach. Chavez spent 18 seasons in the big leagues and pitched for nine different teams, most recently the Braves last season.
December 5, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Luciano's time in SF was filled with a lot of dishonesty from the FO. They rushed him up in 23 after he'd taken 27 PA in AAA. He was sent down days later. They said he was the OD SS with 365 PA above A-ball. They said he was the everyday DH after trading Soler. Neither of those would actually happen
December 5, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Marco Luciano’s time with the Giants is over. They placed him on waivers a few days ago to open up a 40-man spot ahead of the Rule 5 draft. He’s out of options and got buried on the depth chart. One of the most disappointing results of the last few years.
December 5, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Not surprising. I think they'll trade them at the deadline.
