Yeah, the show feels deeply 4chan coded in that "oooh, edgy ironic jokes" way - it lacks any skill or deftness to avoid the fans using it as an excuse to say horrible shit

and that's assuming it isn't just an excuse for the creators to say horrible shit

Same reason why cheating in games is so weird to me. Why would I use an aimbot in League? It feels good to hit a skillshot. I am playing this game because it is hard to do and fun to do well!

Your own point I think is a great example of this. Kojima's love and fear about technology mirrors a common experience a lot of other people have too. I can imagine future critics and historians referencing Metal Gear Solid 2 as they discuss our society.

My feelings about the quality of the guy are not so intense - I just think that games like MGS and Death Stranding reflect reality in interesting ways. Because of that, I think they will be discussed for longer than other games. They are fruitful things to reference and dig in to.

One of the voices in my head. This one tells me "no". Don't go outside, it's too hot. Don't cook food, it's too annoying. Don't talk to anyone, they'll hate you. Don't go to bed, thinking in the dark is scary. Don't wake up, being alive is so much work.

It's at the point that I avoid driving at night, but even walking around sucks. Lights are so lifted that I still get blasted by the ARCHIMEDES DOOM RAY while on foot on the sidewalk
