A brilliant tune to commemorate & commiserate the demise of the evil iron witch
trackotheday.bsky.social
Back to commemorate what would have been Thatcher's 100th birthday. We can all agree she put her stamp on the UK: crushing the working class, destroying communities, selling off our infrastructure and creating the economic climate for austerity years later. Only 1 choice: tidal.com/browse/track...

Kevin Drumm’s definitive dose of sweltering microtonal heck, 2002, a hard reference point 20+ years later. It's masterfully disciplined, visionary music with effects analogous to Roland Kayn’s head-mangling wormholes x Merzbow’s masticated polychromatics

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

English being a rip off degree is an even worse take than hating sandwiches. How can you hate a sandwich?

What I really don’t understand is why development and housing can’t be integrated with ecological sustenance, sustainability and support. Government is ideally placed to incentivise developments that work in harmony with the natural world surely?

Also changed his name…. back to his family name

It seems that we missed a *very important* factor in our work on #innovation: booze.

A great article on the question of #alcohol and inspired thinking.

Interestingly Weatherall would drop this a lot and was purportedly annoyed when he heard Disney / Marvel put it on Guardians of the Galaxy (as to whether the Guvnor like the movie or not isn’t known but more the principle innit) - anyhoo wicked tune. Follow @trackotheday.bsky.social please everyone

Nearly had a row about this choice: is it Northern Soul? tidal.com/browse/track... Annnyway: here's the Five Stairsteps, so named as they were five kids from the same family and their mum thought they looked like a fight of stairs when lined up by age. It's a shame they weren't the Bannister family.

I mean having watched the video last week there is zero chance of them being onside hence ICE his own private army. Gonna be interesting…
dwdmallender.bsky.social
I think he’s gonna drive it to the point where there will be clashes between military units loyal to their constitutional oath and those loyal to Trump. Basically the US Army vs ICE in some cases - the general’s response last week was pretty clear and they have each others phone numbers

Another from the YouTube this morning, chosen to wish the ever splendid @dwdmallender.bsky.social a happy birthday: youtu.be/6SFNW5F8K9Y?... SO much to love about this, mainly every single other musician being blown off stage by Prince but also his stagecraft, where does the guitar go at the end?!

Starting the month with a tribute: Danny Thompson passed away last month, an extraordinary talent who worked with so many amazing artists over the years to create brilliant music. Taken from his Transatlantic Session, his playing here is incredible: youtu.be/u0DOSMrvQB4?... Go well, Danny.

That’s great! So in the detail of this new proposal are we accepting the definition of criminal record from the persons country of origin? In the UK for example your convictions are spent ie you’re not required to disclose after 11 years - would applying the same rule to asylum seekers make sense?
dwdmallender.bsky.social
However most racists are, I’m sure, Reform supporters.
dwdmallender.bsky.social
If the system assesses someone’s criminal history on a case by case basis surely that’s reasonable? A blanket refusal of asylum for ever having being convicted isn’t reasonable but ignoring the record of serious criminals simply because they’ve been released is a naive policy surely?
