I concede that LLMs are "useful idiots" and their power to automate tedious tasks -- e.g., filling in idiosyncratic web forms when you're already sending a letter -- can yield significant labor-saving value.

Today while helping a student, I noticed a change from how I used to debug:
It used to be "Paste the error message into Google and find the StackOverflow post that answers the question" but now it's "Paste the description, code, and the error message into an LLM and see what it says."
