On 24th June 2016 we decided to leave the UK. It was a long, hard struggle but we made it just before the Brexit door closed.
The financial and emotional cost was huge. I have only empathy and love for those we left and only fury and, yes, hatred for those who are deliberately destroying my country.
A parcel arrived today and our tin is now restocked and ready! Vegan chocolates from Catherine's Originals in the UK.

On the train home after work Xmas do. Train is absolutely rammed. At the moment overcrowding seems to just be worsening on DSB trains.

Strange how all the information about Russian money is not cutting through, or maybe they just don't care.

They think they can balance the country being totally hostile to a relatively small number of asylum seekers; marginally hostile to migrants needed to fill work in key sectors (health, care etc) and international students; and very attractive to high skilled migrants in high pay sectors. They can't.

This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

I just watched the episode of the documentary series, South Park, which covered this.
In newly leaked audio, Peter Thiel admits he urged JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral questions — including the ethical development of AI.

He goes even further, branding Leo “the woke American pope” and suggesting he’s a tool of the Antichrist.
NEW: JD Vance’s Top Donor Suggests Pope Leo XIV is Antichrist
In a leaked lecture, Peter Thiel says he’s urged Vance to ignore the pope on moral questions — and simply pray for him.

Taxes to do not pay for public services. Govt money creation, mainly via the issuing of bonds, does. But, putting aside that lie, I would pay more tax for better public services. The problem is so much has been privatised that our taxes are creamed off by profiteering private firms. That I object to

Trump envoy Steve Witkoff has been outed as a Russian asset. This is traitorous stuff.
Steve Witkoff helped Russia derail Ukraine’s access to Tomahawk missiles. He tipped off the Kremlin about Zelensky’s U.S. visit, giving Moscow time to arrange a call that convinced Trump to block the deal. Witkoff actively works against Ukraine’s defense, in coordination with Putin’s regime.

The 50 wealthiest families own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population.

How can this Labour Government say this is a "cost of living" budget and refuse to tax the rich?

They care about protecting power and wealth. And cost of living is a buzz phrase for them. Dire.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Routine visit to the local hospital. It's snowing. No roads have been gritted. Traffic queues everywhere. The hospital car park has not been cleared or gritted. Elderly people very tentatively crossing to the entrance. Not everything is better here. They seem less prepared for snow than in England.

I'm not sure the "meanwhile" is needed. Labour is on this trajectory, albeit with a probably steeper curve, and it seems to be the one they want to be on.
We must copy Denmark Social Democrats' hardline anti-asylum measures in order to win back voters' trust, says Shabana Mahmood.

And one should be more suspicious when the state suddenly purports to agree to the disclosure of documents.

It just keeps feeling as though the Labour party watched the Tories getting annihilated and thought "how can we have some of that?"
To reiterate, this is about making life immeasurably more miserable and stressful for some of the most vulnerable people, in the almost certainly vain hope of winning over the votes of racists.

Anything more shabby and shameful is difficult to envisage.
