I mean, you can support universal housing and gender equality and an equitable economy etc. without having to do any ethnic cleansing. That's a pretty big red line for most people.

Maybe I'm behind on this particular bit of discourse? What term is used for people who, for example, defend the Uyghur concentration camps in the name of "communism" when it's clearly an example of an ethnic and religious hierarchy that's supposed to be antithetical to communism?

Isn't the purpose of the word "tankie" to differentiate between actual socialists/communists and people who want to use the aesthetics of socialism/communism to oppress people and maintain strict socio-political hierarchies?

It's interesting to think of how arbitrary the gendering of computers is. The first computers were modified looms and had people like Ada Lovelace working on them, so it could just as easily have gone the other way, and the only boys that program nowadays have cat ears and knee high socks, lol.
