As a rule I don’t like to block willy-nilly. Usually I look at someone’s feed to see if their irksome comment was a one-off, or part of a pattern.

If someone insults me *and* they have a pattern of such, it’s block time. (Copelovich is a professor.) Or insult me multiple times. Not here for abuse.
Maybe it’s because I’m GenX, but I think of this a lot:

Trump falls asleep in cabinet meetings; constantly sends out unhinged posts; is clearly suffering the early stages of dementia; may have had strokes; is surrounded by incompetent & evil people.

Trump has control of our nuclear arsenal.

Seem to have to tell this story every December.

Went into a Starbucks late one December. Told the baristas I would tip $20 if they would put *anything* on the sound system but Christmas music.
“We’re not allowed.”

Yup.
Next he’ll restore daylight and blinking.

One pic is from an ICE raid; the other from a movie about a post-apocalyptic fascist society. Which is which?

I’m watching a Daniel Radcliffe / Zoe Kazan romcom which I quite like & hardly anyone’s heard of. A few things:

Radcliffe has great comic timing.
Why isn’t Zoe Kazan in more films?
Radcliffe’s character is a tech writer; Kazan is an animator. Any of your female students >50, @paulnaas.bsky.social?

Look: By 19th Century standards especially—they liked flowery prose—the text and intent of the 14th Amendment is *really* clear. Decide for yourself.

This is the time of year when critics put out their lists of top ten movies, of which I usually have even heard of (let alone watched) two or maybe three.

Every time some idiot Republican talks about raising the retirement age, my blood boils. I’ve been working *for 47 years*. I’ve been a primary or secondary caregiver (w/ time off for college) since I was 13.

I’m over 60. My body is breaking down. I’d like to enjoy SOME of the time I have left ffs.

One of many problems toggling between my work Windows system & my personal Mac is remembering to use the Control key in Windows and the Command key in MacOS.

This is one area where I think Apple f**ked up. Unix uses the control key; windows does too; why tf did they invent a whole new key?

Look, @microsoft.com designers: If I *want* to learn about new features after one of your software updates, I’ll look into it myself. Stop confronting me with pop-ups wanting to brag that you added AI to the search bar or whatever. I DON’T CARE I JUST WANT TO READ MY EMAIL.

What does $1T even mean? $1T divided among the ~117M US households ~ $8500. So here’s a perspective:

Every US household last year contributed $8500 so the NINETEEN richest households could each be $52 BILLION *richer*. 19. $52B *each*.

There’s been a “class war” going on for 45 years. We lost.
The 19 richest U.S. households saw a $1 trillion wealth increase in 2024, a rise that exceeds the size of Switzerland’s economy.

These 19 households now control $2.6 trillion in wealth — almost as much wealth as the bottom 50% of American households.

If this isn't an oligarchy, what is?

Trump stays up late at night/early in the morning rage-posting, and falls asleep during the day.

Having one’s sleep cycle reversed like that can be a symptom of substance abuse.

Had to go into the office today and saw a perfect demo on why making people work on site is silly. Guy was on his laptop in a Zoom meeting. Heard what he was saying about a second later from another location. Two guys in the office on a Zoom call with each other (& other folks I presume.) Silly.

Had to go into the office today to get my laptop replaced. I had forgotten how damn exhausting it is to mask all the time while in an office all day.

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social What the F**K is wrong with you?
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

Who the F**K are you to lecture us on our history, how we educate our children, & what stances we should take on US policy in Israel @hillaryclinton.bsky.social? SHUT THE F**K UP about it.

Don’t give us advice on understanding Jewish history, & we won’t give YOU advice on handling infidelity. Deal?
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

After all the times I’ve mangled Indian names, this seems only fitting.

Good ol’ Dough! What a guy!

It’s customary to address former government officials by the title of their most recent office. Biden is still “Mr. President”; Hillary Clinton “Madame Secretary”; etc.

NONE of these f**king MAGA clowns deserve that level of courtesy. Even now I default to “Trump”, “Hegseth”, “Patel”, etc.

@theradr.bsky.social Is it catty (or inappropriate) of me to read this and think, “If they followed the Jewish tzedakah guideline of keeping quiet about one’s giving, this wouldn’t be an issue”?

I mean, they’re making TikToks about their gifts ffs.
December 2, 2025 at 5:34 PM
@andizeisler.bsky.social I kept thinking two things while reading:

- Target + Salvation Army seems like a pretty bad combination
- If folks making these gifts followed the Jewish tradition of not calling attention to them rather than, ya know, posting TikToks, they wouldn’t be as controversial.

I tell people I affect electrical & electronic gizmos. They don’t believe me. “Oh that Doug; he’s just joking.” No. I first noticed it at my very first job out of college, when I did a software OS install, and managed to crash the system 7 times during the process. (The QA guy loved me.)
