marta has now failed in five major events in the past eight months.

❌ Pride Parade
❌ St. Patrick's Parade
❌ Shakira
❌ Peachtree Road Race
❌ Beyonce

Atlanta is not ready for the World Cup: unnavigable for tourists, unusable for crowds and suburbanites, unsafe for everyday riders.
9 injured in chaos at MARTA station after leaving Beyoncé concert
People were moving down an escalator just past midnight early Tuesday morning when someone screamed, officials said.

Lots of Louis Vuitton on this train, but only one MARTA shirt. Bonjour, y’all. 💙🧡💛

marta Dekalb County board member Shayna Pollock is now questioning the merits of said "retreat" and how this discussion of budget concerns behind closed doors and without cameras (except mine) would affect transparency moving forward

These are projections more consistent with an agency in managed decline, who plans to offload responsibilities to consultants, than with an agency planning a billion-dollar expansion

Just got my hands on a 1975 magazine declaring: “Atlanta Transit: It WILL be built” “MARTA gets moving” 🧡💙💛

My favorite Spanish word is PUEBLEAR—wandering through small towns and soaking in their charm. As a former Main Street manager, I’m grateful for a lovely Sunday of puebleando in Alabama! #UnionSprings #Samson #Tuskegee

How a #transit system dies:
“…he had to step over human waste at the Dunwoody station…he was accompanying his mother-in-law from the airport when a nut pulled a gun on him and others.”

That’s a former #Atlanta Dep. Transportation Commissioner.

#MARTA needs a fix.

TORPY: Why does MARTA go where folks aren’t going?
Less than 30 million people rode MARTA’s rail last year. By comparison, almost 62 million did in 2019, the year before the pandemic.

More Marta has to pay for “more” not just for regular “Marta” services

The new MARTA report is an attempt to rewrite history and rewind mistakes that have been made.

I agree with @andreforatlanta.com and stand by the original City audit

I’ve designed my life to avoid Atlanta traffic.
Come ride with me.

Local journalism is essential for accountability. Grateful for AJC and Sara Gregory coverage of MARTA’s challenges—reading it now while commuting on MARTA.
We have rail ridership data through 2024 now and it’s down compared to 2023. But MARTA says the drop doesn’t reflect actual ridership, only continued issues with fare gates that are either a) broken in the open position b) aren’t recording Breeze taps as a ride www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...
MARTA train ridership fell in 2024 despite gains nationally
Only two cities saw ridership fall more compared to the prior year, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution analysis of monthly ridership reports from the FTA.

Higher ridership = more revenue 💰 The newly revised budget proposal shows an increase of $20M for FY26 & a projected increase of $29M in FY27 from our Dec proposal. #wmata #MetroBoardMeeting

Atlanta is doable if your office is near a station and you're intentional about where you live. And don't have dependents. And can deal with the *reactions* you'll get if you tell people you voluntarily take MARTA.

Remember the MARTA employee hit by a train in October? The watchman tasked with alerting maintenance workers to oncoming trains was focused on other work, according to the NTSB's preliminary report. The injured employee needed a below-the-knee amputation: www.ajc.com/news/atlanta...

OFF THE RAILS: 10+ hrs since a derailment, 48 hrs since a station fire. MARTA CEO has said nothing to reassure riders about our safety.
