Welcome followers, new and old, to my new pinned post! My name is Chris, and I design and publish artisan tabletop role-playing games. I am nonbinary, and I am a big fan of comics and music. In 2003 I started my Dorkland! blog, which is where the name for this account and many others comes from.

I ordered some reference material on Charlton Comics because I want to do some profiles of Charlton characters over at my blog. The Action-Heroes Archive that DC put out that I have has a really good introduction from Dick Giordano, so that will lay some foundation.

Part of me really hopes that they go "Why do we want to be involved in comic books?" and sell off DC, but I know the urge to control Superman and Batman would be too much.

I've always wanted to go to the Original Art Expo, since it is in Orlando, which isn't terribly far, but I know that a show like that is too rich for me.

Today is the birthday one of the most talented creators in TTRPGs, Jennell Jaquays, who passed away last year. Jennell was one of our company's earliest artists, and played an prominent role in Chaosium's success over many years, as an illustrator and writer.

Hey! You can get my #TTRPG where you play characters inspired by the heroic pulps of the 30s and 40s, and fight fascists and punch Nazis in the contemporary world. The game is influenced by the first ever dice pool #RPG and uses a D6-based mechanic to play. There's also a print version available!

We're also in a period with more queer characters leading books at DC in forever. From Alan Scott to Dreamer to Galaxy to Harley & Ivy. Is it perfect? No, but it is better than it has been since I've been reading comics.

Regardless, the move would be disastrous for DC.

I heard an animator once point out how artists who work in animation, but then make a move into comics, are more successful than artists going from comics into animation. He took this as evidence that animation was the better medium, which is a weird conclusion.

Between hiring Bari Weiss to be EiC at CBS News, and the cancelation of Stephen Colbert, I really hope that people don't think that Paramount buying WBD would be good for DC Studios/Comics in the long run. Particularly the queer characters that DC has.

I've been happy as a "forever GM," I was a player a lot in other people's games as a kid, and I just never enjoyed it as much. I have a much better time as a GM.

BTW you mentioned horror and 2000AD, if you haven't already, you should check out Cabalistics, Inc and its spin off Absalom. Both are very good horror comics.

I just did a reread of the first two volumes of this, because I was looking up when the third volume was coming out, and I still have to wait a couple of months for it. I picked this up when I was a guest at MomoCon this past summer. I love this manga to pieces.
