I miss the days of my youth, back when there was an unspoken universal agreement that we all hated Nazis.

I looked this up. Interesting, and made me think of how much I loved Pullman’s concept of this in “His Dark Materials”☺️.

OK, I'm convinced. The next sequel to Jumanji almost writes itself.

The problem is that board game would change texture during the evening and pieces would begin to fuse with your hand as you moved them around. The landscape on the board would seem to shift by the latter stages and by night's end wing itself out the window you opened in yourself all unknowing.

A combination of activities last night has left me thinking it would be really cool to make a board game based on @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social's Southern Reach books. A bit like Wingspan, but with sanity checks.

This is huge news!
UBC has developed an enzyme that can convert donor organs to type O, making them universal.
Normally a using organs of the wrong blood type causes the recipient's immune system to attack the organ, leading to failure.

Could AI do this? (The answer is no. When AI is asked to balance a piano on another piano, it responds, "Yes, of course! I have successfully balanced my pianos," then adds some generic banjo music.)

I was looking for something (pre-computer faces used in rehab to help people identify their own feelings) and I found something else that was equally absorbing.

unknown little guy investigation update–

a few days ago, they were seen asking for food at a grocery store for me multiple days in a row, about a mile away from where we found them. someone said they were rummaging through trash too

it's starting to sound like they might actually be a homeless cat
someone else's picture of the same cat Freya found, but a week ago, at a grocery store a mile away

There's a nice article by Siobhan Roberts about the Bridges 2025 conference in Eindhoven in the NY Times. I can now say that I am in The NY Times! (A photo credit for the shot of Chaim Goodman-Strauss and Edmund Harriss,... but still!) www.nytimes.com/2025/10/10/s...

10th Anniversary Edition of NeuroTribes. To say that seeing the first copy of this was bittersweet is an immense understatement.
