Lunchtime LP Joey DeFrancesco Plays Sinatra His Way was recorded in 1998 by RVG. It features Houston Person, Melvin Sparks, and Byron Landham. Joey didn't know how to make a bad record, and this is a solid one from the late, great master of the B3 and it's a joy listening to it. #jazzsky

Lunchtime LP: Kenny Burrell's Guitar Forms was recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in 1964 and 1965 for Verve records. On it Burrell demonstrates his mastery of guitar in various styles from (blues, jazz, classical) over Gil Evans' lush arrangements. #jazzsky

Listening to Vanishing Point by trumpeter Jake Baldwin which was released earlier this year on Shifting Paradigm Records with guitarist Toivo Hannigan, bassist Cody McKinney, and drummer Adam Harder Nussbaum. Modern jazz-rock fusion with clarity of tone even amidst electronic effects. #jazzsky

Lunchtime LP, Evolution by Grachan Moncur III with Lee Morgan, Jackie McLean, Bobby Hutcherson, Bob Cranshaw, and Tony Williams was recorded by, Rudy Van Gelder on this date in 1963. It was Moncur's debut as a leader for Blue Note and it is an avant-garde masterpiece. Highly recommend. #jazzsky

Lunchtime LP: "Concierto de Aranjuez" from Miles Davis and Gil Evans' Sketches of Spain was recorded on this date in 1959. I first heard this over a half century ago and thought it was the hippest thing I'd ever heard. Those opening castanets like a chorus of crickets get me every time. #jazzsky
