I mean this with all due respect, but if you believe that the Bible (or any other religious text) has all the answers you'll need and that nothing you'll learn at a university can change that, then you should not be going to a university.

Everybody's against SA in theory, but when someone they like and identify with is accused IRL they tend to close ranks around them and treat accusers like the guilty ones. This happens everywhere. SAers are experts at conning people who ought to know better into protecting them.

Maybe another way to think of it is as the "participation line" - the income one needs to fully participate in expected aspects of US life without worrying about plunging into deprivation one way or another
