In last night’s dream I had recently been elected to the house of representatives. We were supposed to be lining up for the swearing-in ceremony, but I was still upstairs in the tiny apartment they gave me digging through the closet to find my dress shoes.

Celeste was going to make some tuna salad for lunch but realized we were out of mayonnaise. Of course with the snow, no one is going to run to the store to get some

The last time I made mayonnaise was about 30 years ago, using the traditional method (whisk, drizzle oil, & cry)

He’s so dumb ...

... he thinks the 5th Amendment is a pop band from the 1970s.

... he thinks the Mexican border should pay rent.

... he thinks Posse Comitatus has something to do with a rapper’s retinue.

... he thinks the US should withhold payments on the Bill of Rights.

Day 4 of the kitchen renovation chaos: The guys got everything done early, so that’s stage 1 complete. Now we figure out the new lighting, backsplash, and refinish the floors.

Putting everything back into the kitchen will probably take a year

The Republicans in congress have had plenty of opportunities to check the administration’s abuse of power and have done nothing. They are now all complicit in every crime committed by the administration and must be held accountable.

I rewatched it just last week - it's aged surprisingly well for a special-effects heavy film
Roger Ebert called Dark City the best film of 1998 and it's difficult to argue with that. If you have a chance to listen to his audio commentary for it (of which he did very few) it's a year of film theory in 2 hours.
I love the model work in Alex Proyas' Dark City (1998).

Also, the architecture that fits in with many places and eras, an atmosphere inspired by Fritz Lang and Murnau, a story reminiscent of The Maltese Falcon in a sumptuous sci-fi concept... and a great cast 👌

This movie is aging very well.

Schumer: "Stop ... or I'll yell 'Stop' again!"
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

One thing I really wish TV writers would quit doing is when they stop everything in the middle of an action scene to have the characters talk about their feelings

Why bother setting a time limit and building tension if you’re going to bring it all to a screeching halt?

I can’t decide if this is AI screwing up, or Amazon intentionally categorizing movies badly to increase the chances of it being recommended more often

We got to see the Miami U. production of Murder on the Orient Express today

At one point Poirot was described as “the funny little man with the absurd mustache”

I kind of felt called out
