FIFA must drop their sponsorship with Saudi Aramco, the biggest oil company in the world. They should not be promoting the burning of more fossil fuels during a climate crisis.

I am proud to lead a group of current and former pro players calling for this change.

The inevitable has happened. Saudi will host World Cup 2034. It is the greediest, most polluting, destructive, & corrupt decision in sporting events history. For those of us who support human rights and believe in climate action now, how do we fight back? 🌍⚽️🔥✊️

Such an important intervention.

More than 130 female footballers have made it clear that FIFA should cut ties with fossil fuel giant Saudi Aramco - and now male players are joining the calls.

If the world keeps burning fossil fuels, football has no future.
My article on how FIFA's competitions are being bankrolled by big oil money and how female footballers are fighting back. Male players, fans, and gov bodies in football must join their call to end fossil fuel sponsorship in football!

Male players must step up and add their voice to the campaign to stop our sport being sold out to the big polluters who are causing climate change

With special thanks to Fossil Free Football for collaborating on this article and relentlessly campaigning to clean up the football industry and rid it of the stain of fossil fuels.
Sport, especially international sport, will always have a significant carbon footprint. The very least that sporting institutions and governing bodies can do is not take money from the fossil fuel industry that is most to blame for catastrophic climate change.
More burning of fossil fuels = more extreme weather via climate change = less football (especially at grassroots level) & more dangerous conditions for players and fans.
I was honoured last night to win the Football Supporters Association Climate Action Award! ⚽️🌍🙌
