There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

It's mad that they're still pretending this is a drugs thing. Imagine if Trump next chose to take military action against that bloke with the cannabis grow up your road.
This is still all based on the whims and fantasies of Trump, no basis in real life.

"Senate Republicans... voted to reject legislation that would have put a check on Trump’s ability to launch an attack against Venezuela without congressional authorization."

War crimes and mass murder.

Not war.

Donald Trump destroyed public service broadcasting in the US - it's little surprise Nigel Farage wants to do the same thing here.

Trump’s America, don’t let it become Farage’s Britain.

I love that this is expanding to include books, music etc. I’m not curating it or making any judgments, it’s not *my* preferences, anyone who makes stuff is welcome to reply to my original post. (Not this one, far fewer people will see it.)

Hey, why not make 50 years? Or 100? Or 1000? That'd teach the Normans and their yoke. Or something.
Shabana Mahmood tells Sunday Times it should take 20 years for somebody granted refugee status in UK to secure permanent status (ie, reapply 6 times) if came without permission.

Paper says Denmark has toughest settlement timeline (8 years) but UK govt wants longer

Just finished Mick Heron's, Bad Actors. Almost all caught up from a standing start on the series. Even feeling under the weather it's a rollercoaster ride of a book full of gratuitous violence, human folly and the results of Murphy's law. What's not to love?

BBC

Bias is often in the eye of the beholder

So let’s stick to measurable facts

During 10 yrs of debate about Brexit, BBC QuestionTime had Britain’s Members of the European Parliament on the show 50 times

Every single one was from the pro Brexit minority

47 were from UKIP/BP

23 times Farage

What a wonderful thread full of creatives, the good will. ❤️
The comments are rich and beautiful. And the work is in so many forms and media. There must be something for everyone.

I'll take another look later when my family are not looking over my shoulder.

This really is something very special.

I can see you have a view on this and strong ones at that. I think the current BBC is not functional, it is currently internally weakened by all those factors you mention. But independently funded. Impartially lead news is the corner stone of democracy. Turn it into optional subscription weakens it.
I don't value the BBC because it is a corrupt, biased government mouthpiece that has been pushing the far-right for decades.

It has enough Murdoch lackeys in it that it might as well be called the BB Sun.

It's a WW2 propaganda concept that is long overdue for renewal & replacement.

If you don't value the BBC you are either very rich and would rather go about your business with impunity or too ignorant to care about your fellow countrymen being abused. Why do you think trump loves GB news? Because it's not news.

If you are unsure which you are check your bank balance.
