On top of the contrast from my previous pass, I added another on top of it. Brings it back to borderline painterly, but you get the gist of what adding a contrast curve can do to it.

FWIW, you did a great job. It's hard to avoid that look with saturated film, especially with bunched up foliage and good light bouncing on them.

Why are people who look like me called "prisoners" when they get kidnapped, but the people who resemble Europeans are called "hostages" ... and then in the same breath, I'll get accused of being "woke" or "radical" or even "antisemitic" just for bringing this up because the answer is uncomfortable.

Ektar with colorful scenes can do that, especially with reds and yellows. Even more so when you darken the image as it tends to add more pop to them.

If your software is able to, try to bring down those colors by either playing with the highlight and/or saturation sliders.

Ok, if those of you who scan negatives, i have a question for ya.
All I have done to the following image is darken it a little. If you look at the leaves, something is off. Every negative I have, the leaves show up the same way.
Any thoughts on why they look like that?
