Did a little day tour to Merseburg yesterday. The city dates back to at least the year 881 - and there's plenty to see. Highly recommended 👌🏻

NGL the prices for these are absolutely nuts (see screenshot) 👀👀👀 - which makes me even happier that I picked this up for an absolute bargain directly from a seller in Czechia.

The year's still young - but I've probably made my favorite purchase of the year already: A Czech Pragotron C301 from the early 1980s - with the original glass and screws. An absolutely beautiful clock 😘

On Jan 14, 1975, a MiG-21 of the East German Air Force suffered a catastrophic engine failure during a training flight. A maintenance error - securing a compressor hatch with only 2 out of required 28 quick-release fasteners - caused the engine to shut down mid-air over Cottbus. 1/7

Thing is - the US is an imperial project and there are plenty of examples (Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico etc) - but Nazi comparisons generate better clicks and don't force self reflection
Nazi expansionism has too often been invoked sensationally in the past as a danger in the present but in this case, Trump and his allies are regularly presenting a list of countries they seek to annex or subjugate beginning with Venezuela, then Greenland, Canada and now Iceland.
This should go over well in Iceland. Via Politico this morning -

Out of boredom I just checked how much it would cost to travel to London with the train from Berlin over the Easter break -> €323 return trip for 3 people inc. seat reservations. I am very very tempted.

🗺️#KartenundMacht: In der #DDR waren öffentliche Karten, auch Schulkarten, absichtlich falsch: weiße Flecken, verschobene Orte, fehlende Wege. Fluchten sollten so unmöglich werden. Es gab 2 Versionen:

One thing I've noticed is that there are for sure a lot of smug blue sky users whose main purpose seems to be lecturing people how to use this app.

One thing that I love about Germany is that everybody seems to own one of those wooden sleds.

Getting prepped for the Solar Eclipse in August. Better to buy the glasses now rather than seeing the price go up by a 1000% in 6 months....

Look up Dilawar of Yakubi. American society at large was completely fine with these actions as long as it happened to someone else.
So the citizens of a country which runs countless illegal detention and torture sites across the globe, routinley murders innocent civilians outside of it's borders with impunity, are now surprised that that very state is now using a miniscule fraction of it's depravity against them. 🤷🏻‍♂️
