She’d started suddenly up in her chair; her discomfort was growing. As was evident to him immediately when she lifted one of her hands up to her mouth in an attempt to hide a smirk; and next, in the manner in which she’d tried to cover up or impede another smirk with her coffee cup while raising it for a sip. She covered her mouth with her hand again. “Tohido Stonge was…” she began to utter. She stopped suddenly. She looked down at the table, then she tried it again. “Once upon a time, he….” But she couldn’t stop laughing. She stopped again and, this time, she looked away, sliding her face over on one side in what Tohido was convinced was an attempt to conceal (what he was sure would be by now) another smirk, or maybe a larger series of smirks. But also obviously, she was feeling a little shy. His tone softened. Hey, now?” he’d found himself muttering. Her head popped up again. “Okay, no, I’m fine, gimme a minute, I can do this!” she shot back at him

“I suppose…,”. But Aaesha doesn’t know. She understands little about history. Almost nothing in fact, as compared to Willoe. She doesn’t know the stories. Not much about the sociological backgrounding neither. Those wide lives. With many options. How’d they ever managed to decide on anything? She doesn’t know. Aaesha, after all, is only a math-shamaness. A girls-do-STEM girl who’s shown sufficient amounts of some coveted enthusiasms and aptitudes off, at an early enough age, to later be trained up as one of the many new kinds of hyper-specialized, technico-wonderchildren slated to take over the world soon. None of that other stuff’s within her scope.

….Aaesha was equally well-aware, though, that any heightened new awareness of clothing’s potential as a form of social statement, or of advocacy, or commonality—as was being exemplified by this newest trend towards moderativeness—would also, always, be supplemented by a dream. The showcasing — the need for flairs, the aesthetic of needing one’s garment to be seen as unique as oneself (as you, yourself, were, too, obviously)—would be as eternal to in the fashion industry as the stars in the sky are, and it’d remained present always, even in the face of the fashion world’s many new, and increasingly-peripheralized, localizing manifestations, and it would continue to for so long as any sense of fashion even continued to exist. So, it was really only the case, now, that some of those critical elements and inspirations, sometimes at least, would now need to be expressed with a little more subtlety.

Who, then, were they to complain about ‘size?’ They’d adjusted their styles and tactics in those and sundry other complicated ways many times over, and incessantly in fact, over the past couple of years. Sometimes sneakily, too. Trying keep in mind, though, that every moment anywhere in any direction would always also be a movement in every other direction all at the same time. That was how Willoe’s grandmother had put it to her once, perhaps, in that odd, Chinese-Korean accent of hers, she thought, at some point, sometime, way back when Willoe’d only been just a little girl?
