"I have a constituent—a disabled woman—who called me looking for her Medicare benefits. She was on the verge of getting them when the Social Security office closed down. Not only did they close... but they also told her not to call me or my office to advocate for her." — @kamlager-dove.house.gov

National Black Farmers Association President: We're in a crisis here in this country. We're losing farms at a record number, and I just watched Speaker Johnson talk about the Nobel Peace Prize when he should be talking to Democratic leaders about how to get this country open and functioning.

Survivors of Epstein’s abuse have waited decades for justice.

Now Congress is literally shut down to delay a vote on releasing the Epstein files.

The powerful protect their own. The survivors deserve better.

Republicans could end this government shutdown if only they weren't so hellbent on raising healthcare costs for millions of Americans.
A graphic with a dark, textured background of deep red and purple colors. Large white text is displayed on the image. The text reads: "Trump and Republicans are to blame for the shutdown because they refuse to compromise and won't pass a budget that prevents health care premiums from doubling. They already made the largest cuts in history to Medicaid to pay for tax breaks for billionaires, now they want to let the tax credits millions use to pay for health care expire." The source is cited in small white text at the bottom.

When you sell out your working class constituents for billionaires, expect to hear from the people.

CNBC reporter on Trump's tariffs: It’s ugly. We actually got hit with a quintuple tariff today. The first is a 10% tariff on timber and a 25% tariff on kitchen cabinets and furniture. This is going to be inflationary—for consumers and home builders.

Goldman Sachs report says 88% of American companies and consumers are paying Trump's tariffs—not foreign governments like they promised.

You're getting screwed while Trump gets richer and richer.

“My fear is the medicine meant to help us might end up killing us.”

A North Carolina furniture CEO on Trump's new 25% tariffs meant to “revive” the industry — but already driving prices higher.

📈 Goldman Sachs says U.S. consumers are paying over half the cost of Trump’s new tariffs — and that share could climb to 70% if more are added. Prices are rising again while inflation is stuck above target.
U.S. consumers bearing more than half the cost of tariffs so far, Goldman Sachs says
The findings suggest U.S. consumers will continue to struggle with high prices — something Trump had promised to address in the run-up to his re-election.

Ghislaine Maxwell is a convicted sex trafficker. She helped Jeffrey Epstein abuse children.

Now Trump is floating a pardon.

He knows her. He knew Epstein.

And he’s protecting himself—not America.

The American people know full well that this is Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans' government shutdown, and say so by a 13-point margin. h/t @navigatorsurvey.bsky.social

Nearly 70% of Americans say the economy’s on the wrong track—and they’re right.

Trump’s tariffs, instability, and inflationary pressure have made it harder to buy a home, save money, or plan for the future.

Housing. Groceries. Electricity. Everything costs more — and Republicans want to add higher health care bills on top of it.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries says what we’re all thinking: Enough is enough.

Schumer: If you’re a 55-year-old couple making $80,000 a year, you know how much you’ll have to pay for insurance? $25,000.

How is the average American family supposed to sit around the kitchen table on a Friday night and figure out how to pay the bills?

Republicans are holding our government hostage so billionaires can get a tax break while you pay double for your health insurance.

American farmers are paying the price for Trump’s trade war.

📈 Farm production costs are up $12 billion in a year.
📈 Bankruptcies at their highest since 2021.

This isn’t “America First.” It’s America’s farmers last.

Woodhouse: There’s a health care crisis in this country. Republicans could fix it — but in this funding process, they won’t even talk about it. They’re trying to jam through a partisan, backroom bill. They want to shove it down the throats of the American people.

Trump and MAGA Republicans shut down the government—and now they’re panicking. Why? Because Americans know exactly who’s to blame for the skyrocketing health care crisis: Trump and the GOP.

Poll after poll shows Americans know who’s responsible for the shutdown—and they’re frustrated that Republicans in Congress are on vacation instead of fixing the health care crisis families are facing.

Murphy: If we provide the votes for a budget without any protections against the lawlessness, then the lawlessness will just increase and expedite—and it will look as if Democrats have given a bipartisan endorsement of the lawlessness. I'm not going to be bullied into voting for an immoral budget.

Rep. Greg Casar: The message is just health care over billionaires. I feel like every day of the week we can stand behind making sure folks have their health care while these guys try to give tax breaks to their best friends.

Sen. Chris Murphy: The more that Donald Trump acts illegally, the more that he shuts off money only for Democratic states, the more that he threatens to illegally fire federal workers, the stiffer our spine should become.
