Fine journalism to raise awareness and protest. Project Ploughshares & the Canadian Civil Liberties Assoc. have been loudly ringing alarm bells but MSM did not chime in with even a tinkle.
I am still nauseated thinking of Ontario Premier Doug Ford gleefully saying "I love this!" on national news.

Brilliant approach to the "Thou shalt and thou shalt not..." difficulty found in communicating the urgent need for change.
Ha! Colleagues at UofT have built a project called "We Did It!" - where they build upon fictional storylines from the future (circa 2050) thinking *back* on how Canada managed to successfully achieve Net Zero and a just transition: wedidit2050.ca/about/

The International Rescue Committee’s 2026 Emergency Watchlist highlights 20 countries facing extreme humanitarian crises.
The list shows that as urgency rises, often from conflict & #war, global support is collapsing.
War - not #peace - brings big $$ to many corporations- including some in Canada.

On its 80th anniversary of publication with the Doomsday Clock only 89 seconds from midnight...we all can access a broad range of articles in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists on the dangerous state of our world. Not for the faint of heart to read but crucial for awareness & action. "Now or never".
Exactly 80 years ago, scientists who helped build the world's first atomic bomb published a "bulletin."

That was the beginning of the Bulletin, our nonprofit newsroom.

To mark the anniversary—in true Bulletin fashion—we published a magazine that looks to the future: buff.ly/REJsWIF

We lost our way when housing became a vehicle for high profit developers & speculators instead of a human right.
I watch with sorrow when fully financially secure peers succomb to the siren call of unjustifiable real estate profits. $$ signs in the eyes cause blindness to social justice.
Half of us are depending on an ever-expanding real estate bubble to sustain our financial wellbeing while the other half faces a life of precarity until the bubble deflates. Restoring affordability means rebuilding the economy on something other than housing speculation, writes James Hardwick.
Canada has become a hostage of its own housing bubble
Any project aimed at restoring housing affordability must articulate a plan to reform the large swathes of the economy that depend on the commodification of our homes, argues James Hardwick. The time ...

How revolting. People of Ontario can be truly ashamed that citizens of the United States will be harassed even more by ICE because an Ontario company's will sell ICE armoured cars.
And our premier says "I love that".

The urge to give gifts to show we care or to show thanks is strong in many cultures. But meaningful gifts are not frivolous new & unneeded "stuff".
Where I live, thrift & reuse store shopping is really taking off.
So are gifts of experiences, of homemade treats & of time together. Heart given.
