RIP Drew Struzan. Not just a movie poster artist but a man capable of putting lightning in a bottle, and of taking the form of cinema and encapsulating its spirit in still imagery. The best that will ever do it.

there’s a lot of that with “woodworking” too because people will just laser engrave an ai image on a cutting board and call themselves artisans.

a lot of them think hand-crafted goods are supposed to be cheaper than what you can get in stores, and that you shouldn’t factor your time into your prices. also if you’ve ever brought a dog or a child to a craft fair they’ve fantasized about your death.

i joined a vendor tips group on fb to get an idea of what goes on in the minds of the non-artist types who have booths at the general markets i do sometimes. and basically they are all insane.

it’s crazy that it was allowed into an anthology movie because it’s so disrespectful to the other filmmakers. especially the last segment where they put a lot of detail into props and background elements and either hired artist friends or did it themselves.
