ICYMI: “And now, a response from the leader of the frog resistance...” 🐸 🎵 #Colbert

OH! I know! If we just build tax payer funded fossil fuel infrastructure that makes it easier & less expensive to annex us then they will for sure be our friends. 🙃
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
I have an idea!!! Maybe promote clean air & masking! Whatever, enjoy your sickness folks.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣So there is an early & large flu season & the conclusion is that people just haven't been infected enough. This is top tier science in the plaguescene.

Japan declares a flu epidemic — what this means for other nations
Researchers say that the number of infections for this time of year is unusual.

These kinds of studies & articles are endlessly frustrating. If there was a study that showed that if you gave someone 1/10 of a dose of a vaccine it was not tied to protection, would you conclude that vaccines don't work? No? Then why do it with other things?

HEPA purifiers not tied to less #viral exposure in elementary classrooms, analysis finds

#HEPA purifiers were associated with a 33% decrease in viral diversity, but the reduction wasn't linked to fewer school absences.

that has many similar responses. But even more interesting is that because of regular childhood vaccinations there is going to be a whole generation of people who are maybe 30 now, that won't face this risk. Another chapter in viruses aren't our friends.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
Now it's becoming increasingly clear that viruses like this actually cause other problems due to neuroinflammatory and vascular injury responses. This is super relevant right at this moment in time because we are normalizing yearly or more infections with a new virus
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
These studies are incredibly fascinating. The chickenpox virus infects the nerves and stays dormant in the body for life. Before outside of later life shingles presentation, people thought it didn't present problems.

People like Carney can trade their credibility for harm far more effectively that someone like PP could.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
He will be FAR more successful at creating harm than PP would be because of it. I've been mentally calling this legitimacy-based harm amplification. The "Bad" guy isn't always the one to fear when both the "bad" guy & the "good" guy have the same goals.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
Even those statements I don't really agree with. Someone like PP is a populist fool & would quickly & correctly be attacked for doing something like building new fossil fuel infrastructure during a climate crisis. However when someone like Carney does it, people, against reason, rush to defend him.
tryangregory.bsky.social
"Poilievre would be worse" and "Average citizens couldn't do better" are just about the strongest arguments I've seen from Carney partisans -- and those are absurdly terrible arguments.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
🤣 Yes violent fascists are known for respecting contracts & international laws. It's absolutely safer to spend our time making close relationships with them & building extensive infrastructure that they can take over, that way they don't have to do it later.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
That's really the only thing being talked about, how badly do we want to screw up our children's future. Their future WILL NOT be with fossil fuels.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
Here are my red lines if you want my vote:
1) Don't support genocide
2) Don't be a bigot
3) Don't propagate climate change
4) Don't gaslight victims of a pandemic
5) Don't create victims of a pandemic
6) Don't deny basic science
I'm not going to "strategic vote" for any of that.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
If you support genocide, propagating climate change, gaslighting victims of a pandemic, creating victims in a pandemic & you lose an election as a result ... that's a YOU problem, not a voter problem. Be a better candidate & party.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
That little bit is 100% more than most people. Way to go.

and by making that choice, he has likely destroyed yet another company that he has invested vast sums of money into. Maybe special K isn't such a wonder drug after all.
dcrinyyc.bsky.social
It's pretty interesting that Musk, a man who' entire fortune lies in electric cars has decided to promote fossil fuel propaganda that directly hurts his "fortune". Unless of course he knows he's already destroyed yet another company.

The need for metallurgical coal is coming to an end, and everyone knew that at the last hearing for Grassy Mountain.
I really hope they don't force me to go to another hearing about that mine...
