We can't say anything conclusive about the presence of Down Syndrome in the Bible. What we can say, though, is this: through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus consistently reminds us that all are welcome - not just the whole and powerful, but the weak, the poor, the hungry, the children.
Doing some prep for teaching on some geography - rain and rock maps in progress. #BiblicalGeography
"It is important for us to say, with Jesus, 'Disability is not a punishment. It is not related to sin or lack of faith." #disability #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth

If you are looking for a book for young children that has stories of consistent lengths that includes questions and prayers, and that introduces a broad swath of stories and characters, and you don't mind skipping the more violent ones or rewording some of the more moralistic ones, this could work.
Too busy reading children's books to post. Be back soon. #BookSky
Hey all! I am working on a project, looking into different Children's Bible Storybooks. I have my own experiences and opinions (like frustration that they generally ignore the historical and geographical context of the Bible) but I'm curious to hear other's experiences and opinions. #booksky (1/3)
I know many evangelical Christians consider themselves "friends of Israel" and I urge them to consider the moral injury being experienced by the people of Israel as discussed in this clip (and then maybe listen to the whole episode.)

If American Christians in power really want to build God's kingdom on earth, they should pay attention to the parable in Matthew 20.

If we are confident about anything, may we be confident that we are wrong. Maybe in part, maybe in small things, but let us all recognise that we are all wrong somewhere and be willing to change.
"If your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail." ~Someone?
Every now and then I wonder if I'm guilty of this. On the other hand, Biblical Geography may be just a hammer, but there sure are a lot of nails out there. #BiblicalGeography
We've spent a lot of family time talking about this experiment, strangely enough. What if they were wrong? Not in the results, but in the hypothesis of an "aether" wind - what if aether is warped by gravity and can't be detected the way they expected?
It has been called the most famous failed experiment in history. But it paved the way for Einstein's theory of relativity. 🧵⬇️ (1/5)
Well, that's discouraging.

What are you seeing with your college students?
Horrified by the news coming out of Gaza but uncertain of concrete steps you can take to do anything? Me too - but here's a place to start.

Two of my favorite fellow geography nerds discuss the importance of considering Geography in the Bible in this podcast. I'm always trying to articulate how and why to consider geography, and they do a great job of talking through some of that here.

Yeah, super interesting.
