... I'm starting to think learning Japanese is a power I shouldn't have been allowed to have. Maybe I just shouldn't be allowed to have my own social media accounts.

it's important to remember that MAGA/QAnon are not coherent political movements or ideologies, but rather just a loose ecosystem of people trying to drive clicks, and revenue, by whatever desperate means--a grift, in other words.
Shocker: new study finds that MAGA and QAnon-adjacent influencers seem to have stopped pushing a misinformed panic over human trafficking, largely abandoning an issue that no longer drives the online engagement it once did.
Conspiracist MAGA Influencers Are Posting a Lot Less About Human Trafficking These Days
MAGA conspiracists and QAnon-adjacent influencers have largely moved on from stoking a panic about human trafficking that peaked in 2023.

There's a reason people don't want you to experience negative emotions through fiction and the reason is fascism, because then you'll realize how unfair your own condition is and you'll start questionning the World and ipso facto the system.
It's always about control, never about protecting
A key point in Fahrenheit 451 is that books were banned because they made people depressed and uncomfortable. The novel's protagonist, Montag, is taken into custody after he reads a poem that makes a woman cry because she realizes the emptiness of her life.

Album of the Week:
"Black Antlers" by Coil

For obvious reasons, I don't yet have a physical copy of this album to show off, but I'm glad it's finally getting its due rerelease!

Album of the Week:
"The New Backwards" by Coil

Finally, there's photographic proof
of me listening to Coil. Underground cool kid status achieved. Pan be praised!

The songs that were good before are still good. Over The Shoulder especially is still great. I just don't see any reason to ever put this on over my copy of Twitch.
Gotta say, I find the new #Ministry album to be pretty pointless. The rerecordings are so similar as to be near indistinguishable at times. I really would have hoped for a more thorough reworking so these songs would be properly in line with the band's modern style.

Album of the Week:
"OK COMPUTER (OKNOTOK 1997-2017)" by Radiohead

This troubled world shall not know peace until Thom Yorke is tried at the Hague for keeping "Lift" from the public.

Unlike my last publication, this is a single, contiguous story, so if you've read it, I'd be interested to know your opinion on this change.
On every day, my goal is to give "Fiona Apple at the '97 VMAs" and immediately get kicked in the head.
Remember: Entrenched #nationalism is a great operational convenience to any government. However much you fuck up people's lives, you get to turn around and say "yOu ShOuLd Be ThAnKfUl YoU gEt To LiVe In SuCh A gReAt CoUnTrY"
#RandomThought: Has any other country celebrated founding anniversaries like the U.S.? There was no German centennial celebrations in 1971, but the #USBicentennial was so huge an event they had to plan it six years in advance.
Album of the Week:
"Broken" by Nine Inch Nails

Crippling anxiety-coded. This record doesn't get to spin up when things are going well.

Full, disclosure, I have no experience with video production, so this is very much a pipe dream. But it's been gnawing at me for a while, so I just wanted to kinda throw out a line and see what catches.
Been toying with an idea for a while: A video series exploring stories told through albums. I'm thinking things like The Downward Spiral, maybe prog-rock like The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. How many people would be interested in that?
