With Greg Bovino being shown the door

A reminder of how he and Kristi Noem have been in lockstep in responding to Alex Pretti's murder⬇️ (and what lead up to it).
Wow. Greg Bovino and Kristi Noem literally saying the exact same thing.

Part of the issue here is that they percieve opposition as unfair. You’re supposed to let them win and kiss their feet. If you don’t, that’s not only unfair, but if you win, it’s a kind of cheating. Like a toddler you let win so they won’t have a meltdown. bsky.app/profile/jeff...
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

Oh he is not buying this “he had a gun we had to shoot” line.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara: "People have had enough. This is the third shooting in less than 3 weeks. The MPD went the entire year last year recovering about 900 guns from the street, arresting hundreds of violent offenders, and we didn't shoot anyone ... this is not sustainable."

The Nazi SA - Sturmabteilung, or Storm Troopers - were often recruited from the dregs of society: barely literate failures incapable of holding down a job and only fit for murder and terror. The scum of Germany. Hitler gave them free rein to vent their rage on their betters. Sound familiar, America?

When you work for these people you are choosing a side.
An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files

I am a casual observer and thinking about it because there is so much overt racism coming from MAGA/FOX/Trump that gets a lot of attention, giving the impression that the country is reactionary.

But behavior on the ground by average Americans seems to tell a different story - and actions > words.

This is not to dismiss very real persistent racism (and reactionary vitriol) but it feels like the balance/depth has shifted.

There seems to be many more white Americans willing to show up to denounce violence and treats that are targeted at non-white Americans and immigrants.

One of the things I keep thinking about is how much the administration miscalculated changes in American culture.

They are using age-old racist tropes thinking that they will work the way they often have in the past - that white Americans will largely turn a blind eye or cower in fear.
