People don’t grasp nuance. It’s ridiculous. In their minds everything is one or the other. I have no issue with Thibs as a human being and he WAS good for the development of what we wanted to build. But I think it’s gone as far as it can go and this is the right move. Good luck to him.
I got called a hypocrite for being bummed about the Thibs move. Yes I complained about his coaching decisions, yes I was a minutes monitor because I felt the bench needed in season playing time. Yes the perimeter defense never improved but he got us far flaws and all. He’s also quite likable so 🙃

The Thibs firing shows that they’re serious about winning. You don’t have to like it, but there were a lot of flaws in the way he set that team up, prepared them and executed on game days. And I think they had to take a shot at another direction. May only have about a two year window. #knicks

This is not the same thing. I’m not celebrating, but that had to be done.
For anyone celebrating Thibs getting fired please remember the last time the Knicks did this. Mike Woodson. He took the team to the playoffs then the FO decided to trade for Bargnani and they missed the playoffs by 2(?) games. They fire him and the team entered the dark ages until....Thibs.
