Artist, illustrator, teacher, storyteller. I used to think I was interesting then I realized I was just an old dude telling the same stories all the time. He, him. Currently living in Shawnee, Cherokee territory.

Every artist you know has a fucking reference both in their head and saved in books, objects, photo folders, etc. The sausage isn’t made like that and the experience of being able to take those references and make them into something that makes sense is kind of the whole thing, that’s communication
The act of gathering reference is such a deeper thing than just a fucking collage.

It's research, learning, assessing and building on your knowledge base.
Even google image search is dog shit for this, crack a fucking book.

Learning names, history, influences.

What is the idea behind NPR’s World Cafe? I assumed it would showcase music from everywhere but the US. Instead, every time I hear it they’re playing American music. Right now it’s Hall & Oates “She’s Gone”.

This sentence has been caught in my teeth for days, chewy and true and hard to live up to—

We're given so many chances to sell out [everything]. Good to remember it's not an imperative.

It is 28F/-2C and even the birds here in Kentucky are just rolling over in their nests, pulling that blanket up high, and going back to sleep.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Hello! It's been a year and some change since I was laid-off from my previous job, and I'd love a new one.

My name is Steve and I have 7 years of experience in the animation industry as a background artist and illustrator. I've worked on shows like Castlevania, and card games like MtG!

Life may be more expensive for the rest of us, but Kentuckians at the top are getting a windfall from years of federal and state tax cuts.

The result? The richest 5% will get $3.4 billion in tax cuts next year, more than Kentucky spends on its entire Medicaid program.
