איפשהוא אחרי ליל איראן הראשון כתבתי כאן פוסט על זה שהילד היה חולה (לא בקורונה). מישהו אמריקאי כתב לי בתגובה משהו כמו "כן, יש עליה במקרי הקורונה, חשוב מאוד להקפיד על מסכות בבתי הספר."
ולא ידעתי איך להסביר לו שאנחנו פשוט כבר במשבר הענק החמישי מאז הקורונה, וזה כבר לא ממש על הרדאר שלנו.

אנקדוטלית, אני ללא ספק זנחתי או כמעט זנחתי את כל מלאכות היד שהייתי עושה (רקמה, סריגה, quilting) מאז שנהייתי שילוב של אמא ואדם עם עבודה מסודרת במשרה מלאה, עם לא המון זמן ובעיקר מעט מאוד כוח. עכשיו כשהילד שלי גדל ונעשתה יחסית עצמאי, אני בהחלט יכולה לדמיין את עצמי חוזרת לזה, למרות שאני עוד לא שם ממש.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

I transitioned my old laptop to Linux Mint this week. Free, fairly easy to do and for most things I need it works fine. Not a perfect solution, but better than ditching a computer that can't run windows 11.

אני רוצה לקוות שהחברים שלי בשמאל שמהללים את טראמפ עכשיו עושים את זה פחות כי הם באמת חושבים שהוא כזה נפלא, ויותר כי הם מעריכים (בצדק) שמדובר בפסיכופט לא יציב ושאם הוא לא יקבל את מנת ההערצה שלו הוא עוד עלול להתהפך עלינו.

מזל טוב!
במשפחה שלי הגענו בסוף למסקנה שכל סבב ימי הולדת הופך להיות סבב העברת כספים (נאסוף כסף לאחות X שתקנה לעצמה Y, ואז שוב לאחות Z).

קיבלנו החלטה משותפת שלא קונים יותר מתנות למבוגרים במשפחה (אחיות/הורים/גיסים) אלא אם יש רעיון למשהו ממש מתאים. אני אמנם מאוד אוהבת לתת ולקבל מתנות, אבל זו די הקלה.
