A lot of movies this year tried to talk about *what's happening here.* Daniella & Whitney discuss how Michael Shannon's directorial debut ERIC LARUE (written by Brett Neveu) accesses grief, discomfort, & anxiety through timelessness, rather than timeliness, succeeding where many others haven't.

Asking the near-impossible here but say a girl was putting together a last-minute and small film screening fundraiser, is there a venue or space that might be interested and/or available this month? lol

Good as time as any to re-up the piece that gave me my start at the @chicagoreader.com that gets into the decline of cinemas and how even in a city as big as Chicago, few audiences have access to even decide if they want to show up for smaller movies.

In my latest piece for @chicagoreader.com, I reviewed the film adaptation of Train Dreams.

One big question I'm trying to work through: Can an adaptation engineered to *feel* faithful to a work, rather than *being* faithful to it, be considered a success? chicagoreader.com/film-tv/movi...
