Almost done with Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age and while there have been so many stunning sequences, I do gotta say this may take the cake
Showcases how incredible the models are but also I'm always gonna love the whole "extinct animal in modern setting to really show the scale"

I feel the meme potential of #PrehistoricPlanetIceAge has yet to peak.
Seriously though, those Scimitar Cats are perfection 😍

Anyone else feel like those heavy brass flourishes in the soundtrack of the Megalania scene were deliberately Godzilla-coded?

The thing that really took me by surprise in this clip is what a strange-looking animal Homotherium actually was. I don't think previous documentaries have done justice to its odd proportions

This is a genuine question: Outside of the UK, does anyone know of another National Park where it is an annual event to release thousands of non-native birds? Or even occasionally? I only ask because the more I think about it, the more barking mad it sounds. #birds #nationalparks

I decided that if I was going to encourage my soon-to-be-born child to follow their dreams, I had to lead by example & do it myself

I love that the Smilodon doesn't just look like a lion with big teeth. It's got a wierd, thick face which is totally true to the skull structure

I'm so glad we're burning the energy of a small city & depriving neighbourhoods of their water supply for utterly useless results

So ends #2025svp . What an amazing experience! So many wonderful people doing incredible work. Plenty of inspiration for my own science & outreach projects. Plus it's always nice to spend quality time in my home city.
Until next time, whenever that may be ❤️🐋🦕🦣❤️

I’m at the annual paleontology conference. Here’s how people today have described their work:

“I basically study swamp monsters”
“I’m a dinosaur orthodontist”
“Dead bird bird watcher”

My jaw genuinely dropped when I saw this image. It is literally, 100% my mental image of what Homotherium looked like. Absolutely perfect. 10/10. No notes.
