On a similar note, Stewart Copeland, former drummer with the Police, has an interesting story to tell about his father. Don't know if this is only available on Audible.

Saw them both perform the same number in 1993, but the backdrop wasn't as spectacular.

A looming appeasement trade off between super power presidents. "We won't worry too much about your special operations, if you don't worry about ours."
Looking rather youthful.
Neil Young Unplugged, a huge favourite of mine.
The time of my youth! Will read with interest, thanks.
He is not alone. I only recently became aware of Clapton's disgraceful '76 outburst. A huge fan, it's now difficult to listen to him. He has collaborated with lots of black music icons since, but (as you say) still. Today, he would face charges. Unbelievable!

We take a look at the time when a drunken Eric Clapton said some outrageous and ignorant comments about immigrants, on stage.

Just like the carving up of Poland in 1939 by the 20th Century's 2 great dictators, is this what Trump meant by reaching a solution within 24 hrs?

Will always associate this moment in history with turning 30, watching the live TV broadcast, as numbed Ceausescu addresses a large crowd of audible dissenters from his balcony. Not long after flames can be seen within the presidential palace.
I read it in a day. Engrossing! It just stresses that, when deterrence fails, you can respond in kind, if you have time, but it's certainly not going to save the planet. You are just getting your own back, ensuring that armageddon is comprehensive.
It could happen tomorrow, or later this afternoon.

Moments of political change often build very slowly then happen quickly. Last year I wrote for @engelsbergideas.bsky.social that seizing or holding power depends on information, argument, momentum, individual choices and timing:
Days that shake the world
John Reed’s eyewitness account of the Russian Revolution of November 1917 illustrates the enduring themes of political change – and reminds us how contingent it can be.

Or 'Lee' (Lee Miller, WWII photo-journalist and a lot more). Think it's only on Sky.... and we've just cancelled all that, but have always been fascinated with her story, and she has now been given added prominence with this film.
Blitz on AppleTV, including Paul Weller as Grandad! Although you won't fit it in tonight now.

Surely a role model for the President Elect and his chosen cabinet, not least in how they monitor and deal with their perceived 'enemies from within.' #FBI #Hoover #donaldtrump #coldwar #mcarthyism #americanhistory #history
