I hate to say it but I recently listened to Small Gods and I think Serkis managed to overact, something I've never seen with an audiobook before. Nighy does the footnotes and every time it made me wish he'd done the whole book

But it was still listenable where a robot voice wouldn't be!

Loved the chapter of Atlas Shrugged where she had a random cigarette salesman make a long speech to the MC about how smoking totally isn't an addiction and thus a weakness, but actually smoking makes you like Prometheus because you've captured fire at your fingertips and it makes you think good

Which is why I don't get how he hasn't made a Creature From The Black Lagoon remake yet. You just know he'd invent a new underwater camera and diving rig just to make it look as good as humanly possible, creating a new hit Halloween masterpiece!

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

program at the P.P. Shirshov Institute in Moscow, a guy named

of ours, a guy named
, who is one of the preeminent
underwater cinematographers in the world. And had been on a

submersible expedition out to Titanic the previous year with the

Russians. And that was organized by a Canadian company that was
22 doing an IMAX film which was released under the title Titanica.

The computer they're in is running out of ram, causing the programs to lag when there's lots going on like during fight scenes, causing the slowmotion!

I converted all the bandcamp flacs I had to opus and mp3 to try it out and the size difference really got staggering after a couple of albums!

What you wanna do there is go with opus, since a lot of the videos have it. Better sound/size. Unless you're actually putting them on an mp3-player that can't handle such a modern codec, of course

It's incredible how many opus tracks you can fit on a phone

Right?! I also really think that if it had been written by a man it would never be put in the same slot as Austen's novels, which I see all the time. It would be seen as the tragic horrorshow of hate and dysfunction that it is.

Maybe not very unhinged, but I feel crazy over how often I've seen people who think Heathcliff is a romantic antihero that they want, I simply don't understand what book they read. Even in a novel filled with assholes he stands out as the dog-hanging psycho asshole! Cathy couldn't've fixed him!

My ability to learn French from Duolingo simply wasn't up to scratch so I had to admit defeat last year and go for one of the more reputable translations instead... I envy the people who can!

I'd say that Dumas is the only one that beats him. The Count Of Monte Christo is just so full of padding that at one point it feels like you've started reading another book!

Both really should be read in weekly chapter installments.

I remember they used a Granny Weatherwax quote from the start of Equal Rites about how girls can't be wizards or something as an example of him believing in intrinsic gender stuff, showing that they hadn't even finished the shortest book he wrote because she's obviously wrong and learns by the end!

I haven't been able to watch Time Team or Blackadder in quite the same way ever since I found out Tony Robinson has a wife that's younger than his daughter... I don't get how you can put your kids through something so weird!
