We are officially a ship in mourning.

Our cook has been transferred.
Get ye to the Western Solent then.
RIP Ni, she was delightful
Today a friend of mine died. If you ever enjoyed this tumblr post, pour one out for Ni, a wonderful, witty woman, with so much love in her heart (especially if you were a spaniel or a cat). 46 is no age, fuck cancer.

I hope I can be even half the woman you believed I could be duck.
Since it's very rare to see them out in the wild, here are the buoys at their nighttime display.
Yachts only do this when they are very distressed. If you spot a yacht like this, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard, or call them on VHF Ch16 if you're afloat yourself.
Doesn't Charles just summon his sister? Or is she considered to OP for this setup?
We ambushed the 3rd Mate with this when he came up for watch. He peered at it briefly then offered "monkey wrench?" in an unsure tone.
Straw Poll.

What would you call this?
A) adjustable spanner
B) pipe wrench
C) stilson grip

Bonus question;

Turns out we fished a guy out of the water after he fell off his yacht. Big hero points for the boat crew and FA team.
Back onboard for another 3 weeks of ensuring our waters are safe to navigate.

The Captain wants our new 3/O on the 4-8
The other 2/O hates the 12-4 and loves the 8-12

Oh dear. Looks like I get my favourite watch again. However will I cope.
Relatedly, if you like #maritimehistory then SUnderland Maritime Heritage is worth a visit if you're in the area. Lovely models and woodworking workshop, along with a history of shipbuilding on the Wear.

Give him my best
Happy Birthday kiddo. He's 12 right?
Damn. I don't have a spare ensign on me or I'd claim it for us anyway.
Sea Blindness is a big issue sadly.
@r-p-one.bsky.social Saw this and thought of you!

My primary school had a brass band that had an arrangement of this. It was a favourite of the trombone players as we got the bass frog part, which was simple, and we could play loudly and crudely. Perfect trombone solo.
Do most people feel they have a mission?
I've never felt that.
Fancied a spot of retro-gaming tonight
As a quick note for those commenting about the Kendal Mint Cake ads that have appeared lately.

Should you happen to find yourself in possession of some KMC that you do not want, I will take it off your hands for a very reasonable rate.
I've heard he's a big escape room / puzzle fan, which he's also admitted to in this episode.
I always suspected Jonathan Ross was a bit of a nerd, but on the first episode of Celebrity Traitors he appears to be wearing a piece of kit from Event Horizon.

(I appreciate that recognising this also makes me a nerd, I'm okay with that)
Just rewatched Part 1 to remind me of things. Looking forward to it!
