You're putting too much thought into it. They let them lie without correction because their corporate bosses have told them to because of fiduciary reasons. It's not that complicated.

The Democratic party is not perfect, but it is also not hell-bent on tearing up the Constitution to retain power.

I've discovered the basic difference:

Democrats want citizens.
Republicans want subjects.

So the past 2 months, what Virginians have said is the most important issue is the rising cost of living. 2nd most important issue has changed.

But nowhere is texts that were sent several years ago as the most important thing.
