The Long Train of Abuses 2.0:
These people will make excuses for Stalin about Holodomor and the Great Purge and the Gulag but they won't forgive Kamala Harris for not throwing her own administration's President under the bus over Gaza.
The most progressive, aggressively materialist administration since FDR was despised and abandoned by the hammer & sickle poasters, thereby proving that materialism alone is insufficient to win over even the most materialist political constituency out there.

Wow. New Economist poll finds only 34% of Americans say ICE's use of force has been justified, vs 51% who say it's been excessive. And they oppose agents wearing masks by 52-35.

Yep, ICE is becoming a pariah agency, and that's gaining deep penetration in the culture:
ICE's military raids and masked kidnappings are resonating deeply/negatively in the cultural spaces we keep hearing Dems need to reach: Manosphere, Joe Rogan, country music, disengaged voters. That's rare and it gives Dems a big opening to engage.

Thoughts on this:

“The same party that once celebrated individual liberty and limited government now demands loyalty to a single leader, punishes dissent and attacks the free press.” #NoKings
“ …. Trump-era Republicans do not want to govern for the American people anymore. They want a king.”

And not just any king. They want a former game show host who was found liable for sexual abuse and convicted of falsifying business records in order to conceal a scheme to corrupt the 2016 election:
Opinion | The GOP’s coordinated attack on the No Kings rally is ridiculous
The Republican talking points are out of touch with the reality of Saturday's protests.

this is a prime opportunity for democrats to explicitly tell their voters "they say you're a terrorist, but youre just a patriotic american who is trying to get by in this world."
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."
Are you listening, @thedemocratsmv.bsky.social ?
Given the Trumpist assault on the patriotism of all who plan to attend No Kings rallies, I urge every Democratic elected official to attend one. They shouldn’t speak—if there are speakers, better to br less partisan civic leaders and citizens—but they should stand in solidarity with the rest of us.
Kavanaugh has the same "Trump is whatever I assume him to be and I'm not going to check the evidence" disease that infected millions of swing voters last fall.

@chrismurphyct.bsky.social: "The Republicans attacks on the No Kings protests are sickening.

To them, only pro-Trump speech is protected. If you oppose Trump - you 'hate America' or you're a 'terrorist'.

What they're trying to do is simple: suppress turnout this weekend. Don't let them win."

I am categorically uninterested in, and actively disgusted by, the reification of “working class” or “disaffected” voter as an identity in order to infantilize and remove any agency for their political choices.

You have a responsibility to be an informed citizen of your own fucking country.
Yeah, they don't think Nazism is bad. They're just sensitive to the fact that lots of other people think it is.
The only path to their votes is to fracture their shared identity with propaganda, because propaganda is what built that identity and holds it together, not policy.
For a party that loves to question itself, Dems are remarkably unable to questioning certain underlying assumptions that cause them to face-plant repeatedly. The plan is always to face-plant harder at the altar of the volk. Rural voters hate them. They cannot win these people with policy.
Mike Johnson, defending the foundational truths of this republic by preemptively smearing people who want to non-violently protest a tyrant.
We've shown that in word and deed by celebrating the criminals who battered them.
For the tribe, there is only right and no wrong. For out-groups, there is only wrong and no right. Who you are determines whether the things you do are virtuous or evil.
You see this endlessly on the right. "Political prosecutions are bad, so when we have power that's all we'll do. Censoring people is bad, so when we have power we're going to show these people what real censorship is." They cannot conceive of right and wrong independently of tribal affiliation.
This line of logic doesn’t ever really make sense. You don’t go “they are calling me this bad thing so I might as well become it” while thinking it is actually bad.

So if anyone thought “they are going to call us fascists anyway so let’s just be fascists” then they already wanted fascism.
The media smeared Mitt Romney as Hitler. Then Republicans thought, well we might as well run Hitler.

There is no conceivable argument that these ships, even if we assume they were carrying narcotics, could not be dealt with in some other way. I think we can just drop the caveats and say: This is mass murder.
Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.
The military has now killed 27 people as if they were enemy soldiers in a war zone and not criminal suspects. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/14/u...

Any scoop on the major Republican figures and their close associates spewing this exact same garbage out in the open on Twitter daily?
Most of the great writers of the past would have died in obscurity if they were writing today due to the current publishing industry's gatekeeping and risk-averse homogenization.
Time for the Facebook Files!

Bari Weiss, Matt Taibbi, where you at?
Because Republicans have trained themselves to be the biggest fucking babies in the history of the world and they live to broadcast their insecurities.
In a normal democratic republic, Trump would already be fighting for his political life in an impeachment trial after the first time he did this. It is one of his many acts of bald-faced tyranny.
for killing foreign civilians accused of wrongdoing without evidence or adherence to any legal process;
for military occupying our cities against our consent and provoking conflict;
