there’s a lot twilight has to answer for but one thing in particular is popularising the anticlimactic climax that sleepily denouements into a boring resolution that’s just characters taking and thinking they’re clever very loudly at the reader without anything actually ever happening

Do you ever think about how Merry only has the dagger that breaks the magic of the witch king for Eowyn to finish him off bc the hobbits were caught by the barrow wights, which only existed bc of the witch king’s malice, and is yet another example in Tolkien of evil bringing about its own end
