Or, possibly, people could learn the lesson that religion does not lead to compassion & love.

In fact, it has been shown across the centuries that it leads to the opposite.

Instead of trying to get them back to religion, follow the atheists who are living what religion only talks about.
Our pastor shared an exchange she found on social media as part of her sermon today. Seeing her earnestly address a lack of compassion in the so-called faithful was moving and importantly timely. With everything happening in this country, we need more faith leaders to talk about this sort of thing.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
The same people who think activewear is too risqué also think girls school uniforms are fine. Which one of those outfits would be more likely to be seen in a porn movie?

Food banks are a great example here. Any money you give them is going to go a lot further than it will with you buying items and donating them on your own, because they can buy in bulk with pooled donations
as we reach the SNAP cliff just a gentle reminder to do-gooders that the most efficient use of resources is to contribute to organizations that are already established. unless nothing exists in your area (and it likely does whether you know it) now is probably not the time to stand something up

Thanks for the follow. I appreciated the heads up about the Melissa Manlove submission opportunity. I was able to submit my book.

Please donate money if it is within your means to do so.

Food banks are experts at finding good bulk bargains on foods they know are in demand.

They may also offer things like sanitary products and baby gear - send them $ and let them use their expertise to fill your community's particular needs!
If you want to find a local food bank, you can use the website below.

If you’re donating, it’s best to donate money. If you want to donate food, PLEASE donate food you or your family would actually eat, including things like breakfast cereals and snack foods.

They've been saying it for a hundred years so that the owners can continue lowballing the product on the field.

Agreed, except whenever you see Trump, you need to see Republicans. He is there because GoP want him to be there. They approve of all of it. There is no Trump, there is only the Republican party and people need to start understanding that the problem will persist when the orange man is gone.
“The president demolished the White House.”

“The president politicized the FBI and DOJ to go after his opponents.”

“The president is why life is more expensive today.”

“The president was besties with Epstein.”

Messaging isn’t hard and makes you wonder why Dems aren’t saying this every day.
"If you want to be in government, you have to be serious and mature."

A) GoP disproves that.
B) Is he saying these women with government jobs need to be "serious and mature"?

I know that wasn't the full statement, but think about how that sounds if you're one of his victims.
In the audience tonight is Charlotte Bennett, one of the 13 women that Andrew Cuomo is credibly alleged to have sexually harassed while they worked in his government.

She can't speak for herself because Cuomo's lawyers have hounded her.

So I confronted him.
Listening to @marketplace.org this morning & loved when Mariana Mazukato (sp?) answered if she agreed free market us best at allocating capital: "No. There's no history of that."

The entire "free speech on campus" moral panic was manufactured to blackmail us into making space in intellectual life for bigots and charlatans who couldn't get there on their own merits. Its a DEI scheme for fascism. Congratulations to everyone who took it at face value.
“Following his lecture, Yarvin will debate the legendary British historian David Starkey on history and the future of conservatism.” Everything about this is so cursed. Masks off at the University of Oxford.
I wonder if this guy has the mental bandwidth to understand that this very argument would also be correct if he was talking about people on welfare. Imagine if poor people had money to purchase food that farmers produce?
Farmers are finding out they are screwed. Argentina gets bailed out but to hell with farmers
This woman is leading on the front lines while others pontificate from a distance (yes, me included). She is the type of leaders we need to elect.

BTW, she was illegally beaten by ICE after this video.
We’re back at the Broadview Processing Center protesting ICE this morning.

The good news? They tore down the unlawful fence we demanded come down.

The bad news? We’re still lacking accountability, transparency, and our First Amendment rights.

Join us today at 1930 Beach Street. See you soon.
I agree with you it is nice to hear people give thoughtful answers to questions rather than the canned drivel we often get. That being said, even thoughtful answers seem "PR" filtered a lot. Sorry if I came across as yucking your yum. I see my words look harsh. I really thought I missed something.
What was the interesting part? I couldn't finish it I was so bored. I hate listening to athletes and coaches speak. They are the dullest humans in the world.
Juries are quite literally not doung their jobs. They are being forced to sit in court instead of going to work.

They are actually doing the job of Congress. They should be the people stopping this but the GoP refuses to govern and the Dems let them refuse.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro lost 3x in a closely watched case that arose during the transfer of detainees to ICE outside of the D.C. jail.

~three grand jury no bills;
~one acquittal by the judge;
~one acquittal by the petit jury.

Juries are doing their jobs.

I just cancelled my Disney+ account. Despite the fact that they were able to be swayed by the people to re-hire Kimmel, they have still not shown that they will stand up to the authoritarian GoP regime in any meaningful way. What less visible decisions are they making to bow to the whims of the GoP?

Why do you hate his great grandkids?
17 year old black kid gets caught with weed: JD "Try him as an adult!!! Put him in jail as long as possible."

White men in their 20s inciting hate: JD "They're kids. We shouldn't ruin their lives simply because they actively try to make things worse for everyone."
There was debate over coining a new term "bench hernia" because it was caused by getting up and down off the bench every time he thought Craig would use him and then not getting to play.
