A very reasonable rule, agreeable by the vast majority. Except, of course, for those that maintain that the heat death of the universe, the nature of biochemistry and related shenanigans make said rule ultimately pointless in the big scale of things. Not too many of those around, for obvious reasons

There's the point - many people are so invested in their logic (or lack thereof) that they can't fathom anything but the logical extreme of their ideas. That's how you get a truckload of logical fallacies

If you take it to the logical extreme but on the other direction, everything ends up landing in either nihilistic inaction ("nothing is worth the effort so why bother upholding justice") or hedonism ("nothing is lasting so why not just indulge in pleasure")
