Dad died this evening. My mother, brother, and sister-in-law were with him. He died peacefully.

Thanks be to God for his life.

Dad is in hospice now. We’d surely appreciate your prayers.

Something Evangelical churches do so well is invite people to pray for their salvation, to desire it, to cherish it, and celebrate it. A woman in front of us this morning leaned over to her friend and whispered, “I prayed,” and the friend gave her the biggest, most joyful hug. Thanks be to God.

How genuinely embarrassing that most congressional Democrats are unaware the Pax Obama ended eight years ago.

My wife found a soap-bubble bottle in her coat pocket, and we unintentionally reenacted the well-known scene from ‘Gilead’.

She on the couch eating her egg sandwich and I on the floor blowing bubbles at our little cat who delighted at never having seen such a marvel. And so much laughter.

Speaking of great newsletters, always read @monteiro.bsky.social: “When the fascists try to make you feel small you raise your bike over your head and you get big.”

Very appropriate, given his pedigree as an editor at the Calvin University ‘Chimes’, that @philipchristman.bsky.social links one of its anthems, Twisted Sister’s ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’, in this morning’s always-excellent newsletter: philipchristman.substack.com/p/responding...

If true—always important to note these things are often unconfirmed and not infrequently disproven later—this kind of thing is the fuel that should give future administrations uninterrupted energy to prosecute ICE agents ex post facto.
Multiple accounts on ICE Watch Facebook pages are reporting that agents pulled a couple out of their vehicle in Aurora, Illinois, arrested them, and then abandoned the couple’s toddler in the backseat.

The downside of every fun trend is that screenshots of photo libraries reveal a lot more information than is apparent. This can be a privacy and security risk.

@gruber.foo I am here to confirm your suspicions that a premium-priced iPhone mini would have a market. If Apple announced tomorrow a Vision Pro-priced iPhone 17 mini, instant buy.

I have just discovered that Trader Joe’s sells bags of crispy fried garlic pieces. Probably intended as a salad topping but no one says you can’t just eat it as is.
