yea i would go even further and identify it as the aesthetic fallout of technofascism. not communal -> scientific so much as communal -> reserved for the wealthy and powerful to engage in alone. robbed of culture as all wealth hoarding is yk. that marx quote about the dance halls and the taverns

thinking abt how trimax knives’ jumpsuit and the ships’ paneling share visual language, but also the change of rem and ship humans’ casual, individual wear to uniforms. the sense of combined culture vs erosion of it toward conformity. notable (and not apolitical) shifted standard of scifi aesthetics
